Oh Nimmy that sounds horrible and the whole shakeup to the system goes on for ages cos we aren't toddlers that bounce when they fall. I hope all the aches and pains ease soon.

I'm looking at a number of Masters degrees. The one I really fancy is at Kings College where I've just heard that the Contemporary Ecclesiology one is going to be modified to Missional Ecclesiology which sounds really interesting but I would have to commute to London once a fortnight. St Johns Nottingham do one in Mission and Ministry and I'd love to do something with Fuller University as John Drane teaches there. Being realistic I'm now looking at online courses as I'm already multitasking as mum, wife and clergy so Winchester University do a couple of MA/Mth that look interesting and I need to see if there are any more out there. So I just need to find a way to find 26 hours in a day or do without sleep.

SESthebrave · 28/04/2013 08:03

Niminy - that sounds so nasty. I hope you recover soon x

Greenheart - you sound a bit like me...my life is full and busy so what else can I do?? Good luck with discerning the right course.

Nickel - DD sounds v v cute :) Also sounds like you and NVW could be kindred spirits.

My brother's first word was "cuckoo". He used to sit with mum in my piano teacher's living room whilst I was having my lesson and there was a cuckoo clock in there. I'm nearly 7yrs older than him so can remember it pretty well.

I'm planning on taking DS out to children's liturgy during church this morning. He's 4yo in a couple of weeks and I'm sure he's ready. A friend has offered to look after DD for me. Hopefully that will work out ok as DD has started the whole separation anxiety thing.
Oh and in other news, I went back to work this week. DH had a course for work in Madrid all week but miraculously everything went smoothly. I do enjoy my job so I feel pretty lucky :)

thanksamillion · 28/04/2013 13:01

Hi everyone
Greenheart have you considered Redcliffe? It's where we did our mission training and DH finished his MA last year. They have quite a few Masters programmes that are 'blended mode' where it's mostly distance learning but you go for a few blocks of teaching.

It was palm Sunday here today although it's called Flower Sunday Hmm

thegreenheartofmanyroundabouts · 28/04/2013 18:44

I hadn't looked at Recliffe but it looks interesting. Thank you!

thanksamillion · 28/04/2013 19:00

I should be on commission Grin

Tuo · 29/04/2013 01:18

Hello all.

Niminy... OUCH! Get well soon!

Greenheart... good luck with the MA. PhD next?

I've had a good day today. Attended APCM (I do realise that that doesn't necessarily equate to 'a good day', although we do have a fair bit to celebrate at the moment, which feels nice) and realised that I knew most of the people there by sight and a good number by name. It has take a while to feel I really 'belong' but I am getting there. Was officially accepted as a sidesperson, too. And I'm getting involved with some specific outreach type activities, which I find quite exciting. AND... this seems like a small thing, but DH came and collected DD2 after this morning's service so that I could stay for the APCM, and hasn't objected at all to the fact that I'll be out for most of next Saturday doing the outreach thing (sorry to be so vague about it but if I say too much I'll out myself!). This seems like a small thing, but really really isn't. So I am feeling pretty happy! Smile

madhairday · 29/04/2013 12:36

TUO - that's really lovely, both the feeling of belonging and dh's acceptance of stuff - so pleased for you, what wonderful answers to prayer :)

niminy, ouch - hope you feel much recovered soon - I remember the shock when I fell down the stairs (funnily enough nickel I also have a lumpy bum from doing so about 4 yrs ago!!) it took a while to recover from the shock alone!!

greenheart - fabulous that you're thinking of doing an MA. I can recommend St Johns as a good college, they do a lot of distance learning, dh did his MTh from there when he was in curacy. I've been wanting to do a Masters as well for a while now, but not sure I can commit to it with health the way it is, so sticking to writing when I can and reading. Missional ecclesiology does sound good - if you want to talk about Fresh Expressions I'm your woman! Grin

Had the worst week ever, all I can say is glad it's over.

niminypiminy · 29/04/2013 13:48

MHD so happy to see you!

Smile Smile Smile

greenheart it's good to look at lots of MAs and even apply for several and go for interviews so that you can ask how they support part-time and/or long distance students. If they are going to expect you to spend a day a week in an academic library could you do that, for instance? I run an MA at a specialist part-time university -- pm me if you want to chat about being a part-time/long distance student.

Bluetinkerbell · 29/04/2013 15:33

What is this nautically themed website all about? Clearly missing out on something. Wink

mhd you know where i am when you need a chat!

niminypiminy · 29/04/2013 17:13

Seek for a magazine of Christian unrest, and ye shall find Wink

MHD you are in my prayers

Dutchoma · 29/04/2013 17:25

I've tried them a few times and they will never let me in. See if I care.

niminypiminy · 29/04/2013 17:55

I feel too ignorant to post on there most of the time. But they have some good smilies.

Off to see the first of my Bishop's Assessors in a few minutes (the second one on Thursday). Feeling very nervous! (They will write another in the endless series of reports and references that the BAP Assessors and the Bishop will see.) And then home to a school governors meeting. What a fun evening!

DO how is your holiday going? Are you managing to get a rest?

Dutchoma · 29/04/2013 18:14

My holiday is going very well. Lots of excitement about the abdication of Queen Beatrix and the inauguration of King Willem Alexander.
I have slept very well for two nights and have not had too many distress signals from Bob.

thegreenheartofmanyroundabouts · 29/04/2013 18:18

Good to see you back MHD.

Hope the Bishop's Assessors are nice nimmypimmy.

I'm off to APCM which is going to be very boring. I've been posting on the nautically themed website for years thus proving that you don't have to be smart to post there and yes the smilies are really good!

madhairday · 29/04/2013 19:11

I've never felt quite at home on the nautically themed website. I posted there once and got shot down in flames, can't remember what about now but was left with a rather negative impression!! But I've not given it a lot of chance since, I must say. I do like the mystery worshipper though :)

Hope the Bishops assessors meeting goes well niminy.

DO, so glad the holiday is going well.

Green, have fun at the APCM Grin I've also got a meeting tonight, and would prefer to watch some mindless drivel and go to bed...

Jaynebxl · 29/04/2013 19:26

What's APCM and what's the nautically themed website?? Feeling a bit thick here!

Ouch Niminy!

Bit frustrated here, still no further forward with our house move and the people we are buying off are now on their third attempt at buying a house so it all seems hideously slow. And now our buyers are starting to get a bit cheesed off. Aargh!

UniqueAndAmazing · 29/04/2013 22:15

apcm is basically the annual church council meeting - everyone in the parish can attend and it's where you vote the new pcc in.

nautically themed website is ship of fools. it's a forum for clergy.
it's well known that vicars steal their sermons from tjere Wink

UniqueAndAmazing · 29/04/2013 22:32

I had to tell NV something rude yesterday - one of the servers who is really old was offering to give nv and nvw some plants from his garden. one of which was pampas grass. Shock so I had to explain to him that mn know pampas grass as the sign of swingers. Shock
it's cool having a vicar my age - he knew exactly what I was talking about and laughed. I never would have been able to talk to an older vicar like that.

I'm still convinced that nvw doesn't want to be my friend. I said too much about my birth. Blush and I've probably scared her. and I think too much - I'm so worried that she won't like me that I find it hard to talk to her. I probably end up looking like someone who needs help and advice (interspersed with coming across as someone who thinks she knows everything)
:(

UniqueAndAmazing · 29/04/2013 22:33

DO is coming to visit me next week Grin

Dutchoma · 30/04/2013 07:25

And she will most certainly like you Grin (And it's this week I'm coming, not next.)

UniqueAndAmazing · 30/04/2013 16:16

yes, this week - because it's Friday - I was thinking of the Sunday as your visit day, but it's not when you arrive BlushGrin

Dutchoma · 30/04/2013 16:32

It still seems ages away to me too, because I am still in Holland. But it definitely is this week. Looking forward to it.

UniqueAndAmazing · 30/04/2013 16:37

Bob will have forgotten what you look like Grin

madhairday · 30/04/2013 17:22

aww have a lovely time together you two!

we really must do an MN meet up. :)

niminypiminy · 30/04/2013 17:34

Oh, that would be so, so lovely!
