The night before - prayer for Expat before Aillidh's funeral

Expat's beautiful and brave daughter died last Saturday night. Her funeral mass and burial is on this coming Saturday, the 14th.
I've been thinking a lot about both Expat and Aillidh this week and I know that Peachy has a wonderful idea for how people can mark Aillidh's passing on Saturday. Thread here

In addition to that, I want to suggest a sort of prayer vigil on the night before. So many people lit candles for Aillidh and prayed. In the darkness of the evening of the night before her funeral I think we need to do that again. We can be a light.

I'm thinking of this prayer
Christ be with you, Christ within you,
Christ behind you, Christ before you,
Christ beside you, Christ to win you,
Christ to comfort and restore you.

Christ beneath you, Christ above you,
Christ in quiet, and in danger,
Christ in hearts of all that love you,
Christ in mouth of friend and stranger.

and there is a lovely song which is on the same lines. That sort of somes up my feelings but of course people should just pray as they feel led.
In the days Aillidh was so ill a lot of people wanted to do something to help and we did by praying. I just want to 'arm' Expat and her family as much as possible for Saturday. This seems the way to me.

Hi, lovely thought. I'll join you in prayer too on Friday - I'm afraid i can't do the picnic on sat as I'm working. Expat and family have been in my thoughts all week.

Overtiredmum · 11/07/2012 22:39

That is so lovely. I am happy to light a candle after dark and pray. And on the Sunday there will be a candle lit in St Augustines Church in Kilburn.

redwhiteandblueeyedsusan · 12/07/2012 00:33

there are still 2 candles lit on the candle page.

Northernlurker · 12/07/2012 19:14

Readandwhite - if it's not too much bother would you mind linking the candles page here? I just can't remember where to find it.

Annunziata · 13/07/2012 12:22

Have lit a candle for the family. Praying that God is holding them all in his arms.

'Walk with me, oh my Lord, in my darkest night and brightest day. Be at my side, oh Lord, hold my hand and guide me on my way.'

Shirazyum · 13/07/2012 17:22

Love to all. I suspect I am not the only one shedding (another) tear. Expat, your daughter and you have changed my view of humanity in our technologically determined culture. You have shone so brightly people all over the world have felt it. I hope for peace for all your family, including those who share kinship but perhaps especially your family defined by bonds of love xxxx

wigglesrock · 13/07/2012 20:03

Christ be with you, Christ within you,
Christ behind you, Christ before you,
Christ beside you, Christ to win you,
Christ to comfort and restore you.

Christ beneath you, Christ above you,
Christ in quiet, and in danger,
Christ in hearts of all that love you,
Christ in mouth of friend and stranger.

For Aillidh, there's a candle lit in Belfast for you and your family. Much love Expat

Christ beside you, Christ to win you,
Christ to comfort and restore you.

Christ beneath you, Christ above you,
Christ in quiet, and in danger,
Christ in hearts of all that love you,
Christ in mouth of friend and stranger.

May the Lord God hold you close Expat. Tonight and tomorrow and always. May He go before you and hold your hand in His.

rachelfruitloop · 13/07/2012 22:53

Have lit a candle for Aillidh and her family. They are all in my thoughts tonight, sending much love.

Tuo · 14/07/2012 00:18

Praying for expat and her family tonight and for little Aillidh, may she rest in peace.

"Watch, dear Lord, with those who wake, or watch, or weep tonight, and let your angels protect those who sleep. Tend the sick. Refresh the weary. Sustain the dying. Calm the suffering. Pity the distressed. We ask this for the sake of your love. Amen"

Northernlurker · 14/07/2012 00:25

'The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing.
He makes me lie down in green pastures,
he leads me beside quiet waters,
he refreshes my soul.
He guides me along the right paths
for his name?s sake.
Even though I walk
through the darkest valley,
I will fear no evil,
for you are with me;
your rod and your staff,
they comfort me.

You prepare a table before me
in the presence of my enemies.
You anoint my head with oil;
my cup overflows.
Surely your goodness and love will follow me
all the days of my life,
and I will dwell in the house of the Lord
forever'

Expat as you walk in the dark valley may you have the Lord with you. His comfort and strength in your heart. Christ before you and behind you.

It's very dark here now tonight but Aillidh is in the light always, in the house of the Lord.
