No news at the moment since the last update.

I will post it again here in case anyone missed it tho.

"Aillidh update: slight improvement in xray. Bronchoscope and lavage done. She is comfortable and sedated. Plan is to leave her on vent a few days and find out what is going on inside her lungs with results of bronchoscope/lavage. Please, please keep praying. Your prayers, thoughts, vibes and anything are keeping her and us going. We are buoyed by everyone's strength and hope. Her grandmother is here now and her maternal grandparents will be here on Monday."

sorry for the direct copy and pasting here but am in the middle of feeding my troupes...

Eilidh has just text me to ask to let you know that Aillidh has been put onto an oscillator vent.

Not sure as yet what that means for Aillidh but will update when I know more.

I asked and have been text back..

"Its really shaking her around but pressures less than other vent. She needed too high (oxygen I assume) on that and it is damaging to her lungs. In my understanding it is a step up"

SoC - I don't understand it either but hope it is positive news.

Lougle · 02/07/2012 20:19

Oscillating ventilation uses lots and lots of inflations (breaths per minute) but each one is tiny...almost like panting. That way, they can get the same amount of oxygen through the lungs but they aren't using the sort of pressure that they have to with normal ventilation, so it is less damaging for her lungs.

Keep strong, sweetheart x

alisonsmum · 02/07/2012 20:30

thankyou for the update. The oscillator vent is sometimes a step up, its designed to give smaller breathes more often so hopefully achives better oxygenation. On the plus side it is less damaging to lungs as far as i know

more news from Eilidh...expat and her DH have gone to take her parents to the house they are staying in while here. Eilidh is with Ailidh reading her a story.

Ailidh is now on dialysis. A continuous type as she could not tolerate the 'normal type.

She DOES need more help, but is still holding her own This last sentence my words from how Eilidh worded things.

psychomum was penned by my than 9yr old DD1 (she is now 18). I had an altercation with another mother who threatened to run over and kill my children, so I slapped her (she was being REALLY dreadful). I then called the police and confessed..when the police came DD1 told them 'mummy went psycho!'. The police took my side.....they went to the other woman to see if she wanted to press charges, and she attacked the police!

in fairness she was the psycho, but I quite liked it (proof of my inner 'mother lioness' :o) so have been it ever since.
