Linking arms and praying hard here too. Have sent a message round my church friends asking them to pray hard for wee Aillidh, Expat and all the family.

thefirstmrsrochester · 28/06/2012 20:52

I'm in awe of you giraffes, you are a super friend. The best xxx

Northernlurker · 28/06/2012 20:58

Giraffes 'poorly but stable' is enough of an update for us. Please rest and conserve your energy - physical and emotional - to help Expat.

AllYouNeedIsAClickyBallpoint · 28/06/2012 20:58

DD and DS2 are going to put Aillidh's name in the prayer box at school tomorrow, so the whole school can pray for her.

Giraffes, you're amazing Thanks

KurriKurri · 28/06/2012 21:01

A candle lit in the Kurri house for Ailidh. Hang in there little darling xx

Chubfuddler · 28/06/2012 21:02

Are ailidhs siblings able to see her at all? Is she is isolation?

StillSquiffy · 28/06/2012 21:06
Silbury · 28/06/2012 21:10

Bless you Giraffes. Thanks for the update.
Keeping on sending love and prayers.

fledtoscotland · 28/06/2012 21:15

Thinking of you all. If there's anything you needs or I can get for expat or A let me know as my best friend works in ICU at yorkhill and is on over the next few days

Hugs and prayers xx

JKSLtd · 28/06/2012 21:21

Have been lurking for ages.

Giraffes - (& Expat) whilst we are all desperate for updates it reminds me of when my Mum was going through chemo and all family members wanted updates. I'd get home from a day from hell from hospital to numerous messages wanting replies.

Do whatever A needs you to do, if you can update here, that's a bonus. Do not see it as yet another chore.

Come on A, healing, positive, strength vibes are heading you way in bucketloads xxx

Jayfer · 28/06/2012 21:21

Prayers and positive thoughts coming your way. Keep fighting little A! xx

While we all appreciate updates please see this thread as support and thoughts to the Expat family and it is a bonus if there are updates as really you have enough to do!

giraffesCantFitInThePalace · 28/06/2012 21:36

fled a good nurse on duty would be good Wink

Its ok I need to sort of write about today anoyway, both as a wee update but also its cathartic. At ChildLine when we are on calls we do case notes after (so write them up) and then at end of shift we have a debrief where we can talk about anything that is sticking in our minds, so its sometimes helpful to write/type stuff.

So when I went in she was happy to see me, I like that, she always is pleased to see me. I will worry when she shows no reaction to me being there. Expat went away for a break and her dh and I stayed with Aillidh. She was vomiting lots of bloody/clots every 10min ish, horrid for her :( And she had vommed in to her BIPAP machine tubes so was just on oxygen mask (although high levels of it) and so was getting exhausted.

Tubes got changed. And after sickness calmed down went back on BIPAP. She sometimes gets very panicy on it though - if anyone has any experience of it/tips for it then they welcome? She tolerates it well on the hole and she very much needs it but when she panics she claws it off and heart rate shoots up to 185ish. (sits about 160 normally atm)

Then Drs (oncology and PICU) had a big meeting, then took expat and dh away for a meeting to discuss the plans/strategy, so I stayed with her. And she had an xray too. Plans from meeting = continue with same meds atm, and on BIPAP as much as possible, they were considering changing meds and may still do so but xrays dictated their decision.

She has surgical emphysema (spelling?) and so this is causing pain in her neck so they were planning on increasing pain meds.

Someone asked if siblings allowed in - no. She is in strict isolation, so only parents. They are allowed to see her through a window. Only reason I am allowed in is because when dh was at home with kids then expat on her own so they let me in and I have just stayed being allowed in. Also the families home is a long long way from hosp (ferry ride away) Although they are currently with family in edinburgh. Expats parents have been contacted on their cruise ship and expat has asked them to come so they are making travel arrangements to come.

Any other questions feel free to ask. I keep getting asked if need anything - tbh all Aillidh is doing jsut now is watching DVDS. She has asked for high school musical, if anyone has a copy of that they dont need? She is not able to hold anything really, too shakey and weak so colouring etc is out for now. The only think I can think of to help is maybe M&S or sainsbos vouchers - living off ready meals/salads. And the cost of these mount. Today I bought food for expat and dh and it was £12, that was just 2 meals each. (It was M&S, but I wanted to buy them something nice, tempting, expat has lost a load of weight. and I wanted to buy nice and nutricious food - if you aint getting sleep you at least need good nutrients right?) (do I sound all american saying "right?" I have been with expat too much!!!!!!)

She bought me dinner tonight in the canteen, it wasn't too bad actually!

yellowraincoat · 28/06/2012 21:39

Would be very happy to send vouchers for Sainsbo/M&S. Could you let me know via PM where I should send them?

It is too sad to read about Ailidh, the poor girl. My heart goes out to you all.

Chubfuddler · 28/06/2012 21:42

Giraffes do you have a PayPal account? I would be glad to send some money. I spent three weeks in hospital once and Dh and I lived on m & s food ad hospital grub so grim.

Mintyy · 28/06/2012 21:42

You surely know that mumsnetters will fund all meals, drinks, everything for everyone supporting expat and dd. We just need a paypal address?

JustFabulous · 28/06/2012 21:43

Me too, I am going to M&S tmw, Vouchers or actual treats?

Bluebirdpies · 28/06/2012 21:44

Me too on the PayPal front, I'm sure we all feel so very helpless but want to do anything we can. Do pm me.

catinboots · 28/06/2012 21:45

Giraffes- can you send me a PM saying where I can send vouchers tomorrow. Could post first thing so hopefully would be with you Saturday XX

simpson · 28/06/2012 21:45

Another one very happy to send vouchers. PM me if you can the address to send them too. Happy to send A a DVD too.

buttonmoon78 · 28/06/2012 21:46

Have a voucher sitting in my purse waiting for a good home. I just need an address.

Prayers to you Ailidh sweetheart and to your family. Keep fighting darling girl.

GoOnTim · 28/06/2012 21:47

Oh yes Paypal would be great - I dont have big stores near me but I have some ebay pennies in my Paypal account that I would be chuffed to send to Expat and her DH for food.

catinboots · 28/06/2012 21:47

Plus I also have disregarded copies of High School Musical 1 and 2 I could stick in a jiffy bag. Smile

GetOrfMoiiLand · 28/06/2012 21:47

Oh jesus that update sounds utterly bloody awful for poor Aillidh, bloody hell that poor little girl.

giraffes my dd has definitely got HSM all 6399 films (or so it seemed at the time) and loads of other type films, I will PM you. I have a day off tomorrow so can put them in the post in the morning. Also agree would love to donate something to the paypal thing if you can set one up, it must be costing a fortune for them to be at the hosptial.

All my thoughts are with the family, that poor dear girl.
