Praying. Keep going. Im here, thinkingnofbyou. I asked my v religious friend to pray, she said that she will recite the passage of the bible tonight.

ZPRB · 02/07/2012 20:43

Praying x
An oscillating vent was used on my son when in NICU when his 02 requirements were too high and pressures to high on conventional vent. He went on it twice for 2 different infections and both did the trick. It is distressing to see them 'shake'' but I was assured not painful for them. My son also was treated with nitric oxide on one occasion with the oscillating vent to help with 02 requirements.

slightlyscaredandthensome · 02/07/2012 20:46

Still praying here too.

Pyscho I hope you don't mind, I have reported your post so as not to compromise your identity as Mumsnet have helped on the other thread x

psychomum5 · 02/07/2012 20:59

thankyou X

more news...

more news from Eilidh...expat and her DH have gone to take her parents to the house they are staying in while here. Giraffes is with Ailidh reading her a story.

Ailidh is now on dialysis. A continuous type as she could not tolerate the 'normal type.

She DOES need more help, but is still holding her own This last sentence my words from how Eilidh worded things.

StealthPolarBear · 02/07/2012 21:09

Maybe I'm reading more into this than I should but this all sounnds positive?

Shirazyum · 02/07/2012 21:31

psychomum5 · 02/07/2012 21:44

thanks all....xxx

psychomum5 · 02/07/2012 21:46

update from expat...xxx

Aillidh update. She is on oscillated ventilation and is having dialysis on her kidneys to hopefully purge her of the fluid in her lungs and save her life. BUT, do not despair, the news is not all bad. There are NO new bugs in her lungs. She has cleared all the metapneumo virus. So we must pull together now, they have given her every drug possible. We must, must pray, chant, what have you that her lungs CLEAR for her to have a fighting chance of life. And that she engrafts. Please. This little girl has unfinished business here. She is tired but we are strong. 'Do not be afraid. Simply have faith.' Much love to you all.

mumat39 · 02/07/2012 21:58

Expat, Aillidh and family, I have been thinking about you all day and praying for you. You are all in my thoughts and if I didn't live at the other end of this land, I would be offering to do more for you all.

You are a beautiful little girl. Be strong and keep fighting. All our love and best wishes to you all.

A million hugs and kisses. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Northernlurker · 02/07/2012 22:10

SPB - you're right. Today sounds like it's been a good day tbh. The dialysis will be continuous because the traditional sort - the type outpatient have for example - is actually a rather aggressive treatment which unwell people cannot tolerate. Doesn't mean A is unusually ill. Lots of ICU patients would tend to be on the gentler continuous filter. The dialysis will get fluid off her lungs which is definately going to help her overall condition. It should be a temporary measure.

Northernlurker · 02/07/2012 22:12

Sorry that's come out wrong - I don't mean a good day as in day that was good - i'm sure it's been pretty dreadful to live through BUT it's a day that's not seen A go backwards. Does that make sense?

giraffesCantFitInThePalace · 02/07/2012 22:17

I am a nanny, and one of my good nanny friends bosses is a dr here....guess who Aillidhs ICU dr is tonight Grin small world!

Expats dh just came back to collect some stuff now is off to deliver it to house where expat and her parents staying tonight. I will stay until he returns then il go home.

giraffesCantFitInThePalace · 02/07/2012 23:35

Janet the hamster is back in her cage. Grin

The oscilator vent machine is like having a tractor engine chugging in the corner 24/7!! Her sedation been increased so she tollerates it.

Haemofilatration machine...which is called BUZZ, the other one is called WALLE apparently! is getting set up, and about to be started, connected to her new line in her leg. This has meant they have given her drugs to paralyise her so as doesn't move and disrupt this as v sensitive.

So now needs 2 nurses on her at all times - one to look after Aillidh and one to look after the haemofiltration machine - it seems quite needy! And then we have a nurse that comes in and covers tea/collects stuff they need as they cant leave the room.

Been reading lots of stories to her and letting her hear videos that she likes to watch on my phone.
