we moved into a new built house 4 years ago.everything was fine up until i was pregnant with baby number 5 (first pregnancy in this house).at first we used to see shadowy things out the corners of your eyes, which you just put down to your imagination or car lights outside.but then things started happening.whilst still pregnant,i'd walk towards a door and it would open.we put it down to wonky floorboards!when dd was 6 weeks old she was diagnosed with cf.she'd lay in her chair in the living room and watch 'nothing' go from one side of the room to the other, and smile at it.both myself and dh lost grandparents last year and dh lost another this year, and we were wondering if one of them were watching over dd.i was walking down the stairs a few weeks ago,saw dh go in the kitchen.i went straight into the living room, and he was sat there!i totally freaked out because what i saw was a solid thing going into the kitchen.the hallway leads from the front door to the kitchen with the living room on your right which you walk past to the kitchen,so he had no way of getting back in there before me!i made him go and look to see if we had a burglar!!i've been told by a psychic that i am psychic (not been able to predict the lotto numbers yet though!!)you do have a feeling that youre not alone though.even our dog has started growling at nothing in the hallway, and often stands in front of me as if protecting me (he's a japanese akita and they are known for protecting their owners).just wondering if anyone else has ever experienced anything like this after the birth of a baby.if it was only me seeing things then i'd say i'd lost the plot, but everyone else in the house sees things and have doors open for them!(very courtious spook!!)i dont rush into the 'its a ghost'thing as i keep looking for rational explanations first,so far havent found one!!!

In my old cottage, i was sitting watching T.V with my mam one night ( she was visiting as dp was away) and a glass vase literally jumped off the shelf and shattered on the floor. There was 2 of us otherwise no-one would have beleived.
Oneday i came in and the gas fair was on, (just the gas-not lit). It was an old one you had to push and click and i'd never used it!!
Also thought dp was home one day as saw person standing in the living room. Did a double take and realised dp was at work.
lots more but need ot go for dd.

stephanie21 · 09/02/2006 15:04

oh my god!!think i would have poohed pants if vase had smashed!!when your sat in my living room loud footsteps go over the bedroom above, even though no-one else is in the house.we often get the tv turning over by itself, and the bedroom one switched on during the night,as it came on,dh got out of bed to unplug it,and ds started being sick.we thought someone was letting us know he wasnt well.

All psychics say that you're a psychic, that's part of their speel.

I don't believe in ghosts at all. When I was pregnant with dd I saw and heard things too, but that's because I was very depressed and suffering from delusions. The mind is a very powerful thing that should not be underestimated!

Rhubarb · 09/02/2006 15:09

Things fall down all the time, if everyone thought it was a ghost that did it then every house would be haunted! Stuff being turned on, surges in electricity or particularly forgetful people or mischievous toddlers.

Eliminate the reasonable and rational before jumping in with the supernatural.

suzywong · 09/02/2006 15:10

hark at Yvette Fielding down there!

expatinscotland · 09/02/2006 15:12

What was standing on the site where your house is now? K, this is gonna sound weird, but here goes: first, I believe you. 100%. I've seen 3 ghosts myself. All solid as a rock.

Even if a house is new, a ghost doesn't know that. Everything is as he/she remembered it.

Do some basic research. TBH I don't buy the whole grandparents or relatives watching over those left here as a haunting. That's not to say I don't believe they do, b/c I do. Just that it doesn't manifest itself in the kinds of things you're seeing, unless they died in the house or lived in it before their deaths.

As far the timing - right after your daughter's birth - it could well be that the birth stirred something up in something, some energy, that was dormant before.

stephanie21 · 09/02/2006 15:12

ive very open minded but never believed in things until it was right there in front of me.also ds used to wake up crying during the night that the lady with white hair wouldnt let him sleep.i thought he was just saying it to get into our bed.but when we moved house my other ds (who wasnt even born when first ds said about white haired lady) woke up during the night laughing.we went in to his room and he sat there, wide awake and said that the lady with white hair wouldnt let my other ds sleep!(thye share a room)

ALL the times I saw a ghost, I didn't believe it. The first time, I saw one at a historical site and mistook him for an employee. A real employee told me what it was and I didn't believe him. Until the historical site showed up on a Discovery channel show about a year later .

The second time was a fella staring out the 2nd floor bedroom window of a maisonette, a maisonette whose front door and window were located on the first floor and both of which were boarded up w/metal covers by the council. I later brought it up in a pub w/a bunch of DH's mates, one of whom is a cleaner for the council. His face went white as a sheet when I told him.

The third time was in this flat now. I researched public records and found out what I'd seen used to live here when this place was a tenement in the 1880s.

our house is built on farm land.i dont know how long its been farmland or what was here before that.do you think ghosts can follow you if you move house?i've been on the most haunted forum, and there are a few oddbods that tell you its satan and such, but got talking to a parapsychologist.he said that it could be energy from my kids (eldest ds is 14) as teenagers have high energy levels (probably not the correct wording but you know what i mean!)before my dh's gran died a couple of weeks ago,i kept telling him that something was wrong,i could 'sense' it.anyway, the name harold edward popped in my head.turns out that that was dh's grandad who died 25 years ago.i can honestly say that i didnt know his name, and after we 'acknowleged' this, the feeling went away.dh's gran died a week later

the para is right, it's NOT common for ghosts to follow people. most are rooted to one spot b/c they don't know they're dead, in fact. it's quite rare for them to follow.

and he's right about the energy from your kids.

stephanie21 · 09/02/2006 15:28

we once went to watermouth castle in devon a few years ago.we went down in the bit that is done out as old fashioned shops.as we were walking one in front of another,i saw (and i swear on my kids lives this is what i saw) a woman dressed in a long grey dress with a white apron over the top.she walked from the right out of where a shop window was,to the left which was a little hole thing in the wall.my friend was in front of me and it had walked in front of my friend.the woman looked at us but through us if you know what i mean,i totally freaked and shouted at my friend, who hadnt seen it right in front of her.i pushed her all the way out, leaving dh in there!!(we had the kids with us)we went into the cafe and i was white!the woman in there said other people had seen it aswell.

expatinscotland · 09/02/2006 15:37

I thought it was all bs when I saw one. I thought it was just a rude employee. Solid as you or me, tho.

stephanie21 · 09/02/2006 15:42

when i saw whoever it was going into my kitchen,he was solid.that was why i thought it was my dh.my friend has said to use tarot cards or a pendulum to find out who it is,but i dont want to stir anything up!!(call me chicken shit, but i'd crap my pants and leg it out of teh house if the spirit turned up whilst i was doing it!) we also took some photos in our living room (was trying out new camera so was just pointing at nothing in particular) and when we looked at the pics, there were orbs.i posted some on the mh forum and people said they were definately orbs (you cant get reflection on a pair of closed curtains)

OP posts:
expatinscotland · 09/02/2006 15:43

DO NOT USE TAROT CARDS, OUIJA BOARDS or hold a seance! Do NOT! IF you have a problem, any of these will make it far, far worse.

I think you should contant your nearest parapsychology or paranormal institute.

expatinscotland · 09/02/2006 15:44

No pendulums, dousing rods, etc. either.

Rhubarb · 09/02/2006 15:45

Or loony bin if you're thinking of meddling with that shit!

doormat · 09/02/2006 15:46

agree with expat do not use these

have had loads of experiences of paranormal

Rhubarb · 09/02/2006 15:47

I haven't, just think they're a waste of bleeding time! Send the money to me and I'll tell you what you need to know!

expatinscotland · 09/02/2006 15:48

They're unnecessary, Rhubarb. A qualified paranormal investigator often doesn't need these things, nor does a true psychic.

Rhubarb · 09/02/2006 15:49

Nope, but they do need money though!

stephanie21 · 09/02/2006 15:49

i darent use them anyway!how do i go about finding out what was on this land before it was farm land?(probably talking going back a good fe hundred years).we do live near a castle on the welsh coast,so could be a soldier that was killed.whoever it is just seems to do things every now and again.dd has just come home from school adn said her tv was on in her room.ive been up there today to get the washing and i know it wasnt on then.maybe just power surges like rhubarb says.i dont jump to the conclusion straight away that its spooks, but the evidence is there!!(call in mulder and scully!!)

OP posts:
expatinscotland · 09/02/2006 15:50

Many paranormal investigators and psychics work for free or for a donation. These people are different from fortune tellers and tarot card readers and 'psychics' you see who advertise.

Besides, don't you watch 'Sea of Souls' woman?!

stephanie21 · 09/02/2006 15:50

doormat, what have you experienced?anything like whats going on in my house?
