OOOh - hello! We also won rag hockey once at London (& I got the National recitation award [smug] ).

Taught the local cubs rag hockey the other week.

Still got all the Juco & Covie badges, & still think the boys song was better than the girls! Were your boys & girls separated?

Umm, I think so, Milliways, I was in Croydon, so not far to go for me (racking brains!).

sanders · 07/04/2009 21:28

I just found this thread while googling "covenanters." Small world! I was in Hainault Jucos and Girl Covenanters, and also went to New Milton camp. Seaford, too.

I have made a Facebook page on the Covenanters Boys Club. It was a wonderful Club that introduced me to the real God.

I was a Covenanter in Storrington, West Sussex. I went to the Heronwater camp for many years. I also earned my Golden Arrow award and won the National table tennis competition in my final year in Covenanters. A great group with so many happy memories.

I know this post is really old... My mum used to run the Juco girls camps at New Milton, I went with her from a new born till a teenager.

Yes. I have a golden arrow too. My parents ran the Wolseley and later the Plymouth Plymstock groups so Covenaters was very much part of my life growing up. Also at Coventer camp I made a commitment to follow Christ which I have never regretted. Camps I went to were Brixham, Selsey, Yeovil and Ringstead Hall (Beccles). Always went up to London for the national rallies which was s weekend away for our groups.

Melanie14 · 22/09/2023 09:20

I also won the national scripture recitation award! I was in a milwaulkee brace that year!

PeterandRuth · 16/09/2025 07:47

Hi - can anyone help with the qualifying periods for the various awards? What did the badges look like? Compiling a history and any information would be appreciated - Thanks

Melanie14 · 06/12/2025 22:47

I think it was ten weeks for badge. Not sure of the others but i had my golden arrow and there was a crown badge. I would love to read the history. My parents led groups in Weymouth and in Plymouth and Plymstock so I grew up breathing Covies! I used to enjoy the magazine. Did the Bible studies and entered scripture recitations every year. One the National one year. It was always an adventure coming to London for the rallies. We stayed the weekend in homes of families in churches in High Wycombe and Harrow. Dad and Mym and their Co leaders took us around London seeing the sights and then we went into the rally. For many it was their first trip to London. Lots of great memories. I went to Covie Camps too mostly led by Margaret Peti and Jenny Mitchell who are both now with the Lord. Then also once to Yeovil Park School led by Pam Cousins who was often on the stage at the rallies. I feel I owe Covies a lot as it was at camp I made a deeper commitment to the Lord and he had always been faithful.

Thank you for your message and information. Do you remember if the Crown badge was the one with the letter C at the top as in the photo ?

No that was a new one when I was in covies. That was a century badge forv100 attendances. I will look to see if I have my crown badge still.

Melanie14 · 12/12/2025 00:46

Thank you for posting these

Melanie14 · 12/12/2025 11:41

Really interested that you are looking into all this. If I can help in any other way let me know. Ordinary badge was for 10 weeks attendance I think. There was also the Challenge Course where you could get various awards. That also was started during mu time in Covies in the 70s.
