The Bible says so.

No.

People don't come back to life.

clairefromsteps · 23/01/2011 20:35

Oooh, oooh, oooh - he might be coming back this July - DS and DD (4) are desperate to call the new baby Jesus, if it turns out to be a boy.

Baby-to-be wasn't the result of an immaculate conception, though, which I understand is a bit of a prerequisite... Grin

"The Bible says so."

Oh, so it must be true then! Hmm

We Jews are still waiting for the first appearance.

southeastastra · 23/01/2011 20:35

no and today the daily mail said there were no aliens either :(

AnnieLobeseder · 23/01/2011 20:36

SEA - now that I don't believe either!

Ah, the limitless arrogance of humanity....

mamasmissionimpossible · 23/01/2011 20:40

Yes I think so.

oxocube · 24/01/2011 07:49

"No. Because he was never here in the first place, it is a good story though."

reddaisy, I think its pretty much proven that Jesus did exist. Whether you believe he is the Son of God is another matter

MyrrhyBS · 24/01/2011 07:54

Yes.

Thats interesting littleducks, I didn't realise it said it in the Qu'ran.

PositiveAttitude · 24/01/2011 07:56

No doubt Jesus will be returning.

practicallyimperfect · 24/01/2011 08:27

oxocube · 24/01/2011 10:58

gree · 24/01/2011 17:53

yes

JohannaM · 26/01/2011 17:24

Unfortunate phrasing of thread title - I'm surprised no one made any ribald comments! :)

As to the return of the Christian deity - they've been forecasting it since the mid first century.

As rightly pointed out, dead people don't come back to life.

maltesers · 26/01/2011 18:52

gosh , i hadnt thought about that. . . i must be getting so clean minded in my old age !!

madhairday · 26/01/2011 19:52

Agreed Johanna, but Jesus is alive, so that's ok then Grin

livvylouis · 26/01/2011 21:10

Yes, definately.

Who was and is and is to come.

mufti · 27/01/2011 07:53

YES

JohannaM · 01/02/2011 17:07

It might be worth pointing out that the whole resurrection story first appears in the writings of Paul. Of course dying and resurrected Gods were hardly unknown amongst many of the various religions of the ancient Near East. So it is unsurprising that this latest religion took some of its ideas from those already in existence.

SunRaysthruClouds · 04/02/2011 13:40

Ok, let's face it, if someone like, say Derren Brown announced that he is in fact the son of god, all his tricks are real and we should all be good to each other, he would be certified, carted off and so on.
The point is nobody will recognise it when it happens, and she will be put through the modern equivalent of crucifixion.

Most people paid no attention to J, and of those who did even fewer understood what he was on about, and I don't think people are any more receptive these days Smile

PandaG · 04/02/2011 13:43

yes, absolutely.

Hullygully · 04/02/2011 13:44

Yes. I know he will.

In fact, he already has and he is under my bed right now.

ChickensHaveNoEyebrows · 04/02/2011 13:46

I don't believe that Jesus will arrive in a puff of smoke, complete with a punchy sound track and a gospel choir, no. I don't think we're supposed to take it so literally (ie, that the human being with beard and sandals will once again walk the earth). I think we're supposed to see Jesus's return as ascending to his rightful place in the world, so that all people aknowledge him. Oh, and I very much doubt that will happen in my life time.
