COUNCIL THREAT TO KILL HARMLESS DOG

Vallhala · 11/06/2010 00:03

Lennox is a 5 year old family dog. His parents are a Lab x Staffie and an American Bulldog. He is NOT a banned dog as described by the law of his homeland, Belfast in NI. Nor has he ever been an aggressive one. He lives peacably with a young family and other pets.

Yet he may well die.

Belfast Council have forcibly taken him from the owners who have loved him since he was 8 weeks old. Now he is in council kennels, awaiting his fate. He suffers from stress yet the Council won't even tell the family how or where he is. They, including their 11 year old disabled daughter, are in pieces and Lennox's life hangs in the balance.

The petition to save Lennox is HERE

Full details, written by the owner, are HERE

Please sign the petition and, if you will, also email Belfast City Council to express your concerns. Their details are on the owner's webpage.

Yes, except people aren't dogs and dogs are hardly going to take over the world the way we have.

'He suffers from stress yet the Council won't even tell the family how or where he is.'

I have quite honestly heard it all now.

expatinscotland · 13/06/2010 23:37

Just when you thought you'd heard a new standard of low, eh, moony? someone comes along and introduces a whole new one.

moondog · 13/06/2010 23:39

I thought it was a joke, I really did at first, Expat.

Wait until I let the starving masses my dh works with in SE Asia that in our country, a lot of random folk on the Internet are concerned about a dog with stress.

Jesus.

expatinscotland · 13/06/2010 23:41

Oh, now, moony, that is very compassionless and heartless.

I'm sure someone will be along to scold you soon. I've even see 'Blu' about lately .

expatinscotland · 13/06/2010 23:43

And then there will be the juxtapositions.

If you don't care for dogs with stress, it translates into all other realms of life, you may even have serial killing potential.

And the 'If you don't like it you should just hide it!'

Gah.

You fraek.

Vallhala · 13/06/2010 23:47

Some of us have to moondog. There have recently been cases where dogs in this situation have been pronounced "innocent" - but only after they've been either taken from heartbroken families for months, if not years, or killed. For some of us, DC included, our pets are a very important part of our lives and the distress caused by actions such as the one here are devastating.

I'm sure your DH does good work and that you are proud of him... just as I and my DDs do good work for dogs in need and we're proud of that. We all have our own humanitarian interests, this is mine. I put my money and where my mouth is, and put in physical effort, as does your DH. Vive la differrence!

Vallhala · 13/06/2010 23:48

Pah! "I put my oney where my mouth is", there is no need for "and" there!

Expat, Moony - what's the problem?

Valhalla has provided her side of the story and asked you to sign a petition.

If you don't agree, just don't sign, surely?

kid · 14/06/2010 00:06

I think the work you do for dogs is amazing Vallhala. The unfortunate dogs are so lucky that there are people out there, like you, fighting for them. Keep up your wonderful work

ceres · 14/06/2010 07:43

err, i am quite capable of being concerned about animals AND humans.

the fact that i am concerned about a dog does not make me any less concerned about human suffering.

lilmissmummy · 15/06/2010 11:00

I've signed.

It takes maybe a minute to sign this petition and it could change a families life.

I agree with kid and ceres, I care about many causes and animal cruelty is one of them. In my opinion this is animal cruelty, and by signing the petition will not stop me supporting any of the other charities that I believe in. .

oxocube · 15/06/2010 13:32

Signed

notalone · 15/06/2010 19:10

Moondog - why do you constantly feel the need to belittle other people? Quite frankly its very boring and not to mention extremely rude. Are you like this in RL too?If you don't like or agree with a particular post then ignore it. Yes, of course there are terrible things going on in the world. But does this mean no-one has the right to be upset or feel annoyed / angry about other issues? Of course it doesn't so stop being so ridiculous.

notalone · 15/06/2010 19:12

Sorry - did not mean to hit post then. Vallhala you do an amazing job and I really hope you get justice for Lennox's family and of course for Lennox himself

SaveLennox · 04/07/2010 04:33

As one of Lennox's owners and the fact that this link was sent to me I felt the need to personally sign up to this great forum to say a very big thank you to Vallhala for posting this topic and helping to save an innocent life. I would like to also thank all the other members who have signed Lennox's petition and posted positive and constructive comments here. Normally we wouldn't pass comment on the minority of people who post negative messages or personal views that we hear about simply because we feel in a democratic world everyone is entitled to a personal opinion, however after reading just a few of the heartless posts here I thought I would just give comment. Firstly, a Newspaper, Magazine, numerous groups around the globe and even MP's have gave their support of Lennox so if this is not reason enough to sign the petition then you obviously have never had the love of an animal such as Lennox in your life and for that I truly feel for you as it actually makes me feel quite sad for what you are missing. Finally, may I just say that an animals life is as precious and as equal as any human, afterall animals roamed the earth long before we humans did. As said I really only wanted to say thank you to those people here who have shown support and feel as passionate as we do about stopping these evil people who took an innocent little eleven year old girls best friend from her leaving that child an emotional wreck not being able to attend school for days and constantly asking Mummy and Daddy when would Lennox be coming home, the same little girl who just played fetch with Lennox four hours before these evil people came and took him from her for no reason other than he looks slightly like another breed and his muzzle was of a certain measurement. To all supporters and campaigners on this journey with us we thank you and only wish we could shake each and everyone of your kind hands. To those who feel compelled to write negative evil comments I invite you to read the full story of Lennox at his website and consider the hurt your comments bring to a little girls heart each time she reads your unfunny and hurtful comments, please consider before passing comment and should you not agree or support a cause like Lennox or the millions of other BSL victims around the globe then don't pass comment at all, it's that simple!
Again thank you to all kind hearted people here and Vallhala for bringing this topic to this forum.

kid · 04/07/2010 11:00

Savelennox, I really do hope you get your precious boy back home where he belongs and soon.
It is cruel what has happened to him and I pray the matter is resolved quickly. Your family must be going through hell at the moment. No-one should be put through this, especially when there is no evidence to back up their claim.

Those posters that don't support the campaign really don't need to comment. Not every agrees with all issues and no-one was asking for peoples opinions, just their support. I am sure there are loads of people wishing you and your family are reunited with lennox really soon x

JaxTellersOldLady · 04/07/2010 11:10

signed and commented.

well done Valhalla

PersonalClown · 04/07/2010 11:26

Signed.
We had the same thing with my cousin.
She was out walking her dogs Atlas-a Rottie and Apollo who was just an 8 month old SBT cross.

Police seized the puppy saying he was on the DDA. When we rang to offer to pay for DNA testing, she was told that he had already been destroyed. And then they told us is was because of someone who admitted that they didn't like my cousin and had reported the dog as dangerous to get back at her.

apologies for her language etc!
