I have just fed my dog macaroni cheese, have I messed up big time?

I made macaroni cheese for dh for his birthday and out the small serving that was left over into the dogs bowl before thinking really

Is it really bad?

Nope, it's ok as a treat but obviously not fab for the doggy waistline

Unless your dog has a particularly sensitive tummy, it should be fine.

he is 9 months and a whippet/collie cross

I have recently worried that he may not be getting enough food and not gaining weight so the weight thing isn't a problem

well he threw up when he ate half a tennis ball but apart from that never blinked when I have changed food type

Apparently they have an accumulative toxic effect flowery - so if they have a few on a regular basis it can do damage, as can a lot in one go, I think.

Why are you concerned? There is nothing our dog won't eat, he has his lovely, very expensive, perfectly balanced kibble.......and all our table scraps. He is a dustbin on legs.

Tonight he has dined on pizza, salad dressed with pesto and tiramissu.

He looks very well for it and is happily snoring.

onions, grapes and chocolate are all a no no for dogs

our dog gets leftovers fairly regulary, normally bits from plates rather than whole portions. Macaroni cheese seems ok to me, as long as it's not every day!

seeing as how yours is still a puppy I'm sure higher fat is a good thing as they're still so active

ours is 12 yo border collie x lab, not fat relatively healthy for her age

wel I've never had a dog before and we only got him on easter sunday
so far he has had nothing but his puppy food and puppy treats
and a few little chunks of cheese

I just worried that maybe he shouldn't be eating such rich food or somehting

Oh I dont know, I just have no clue really and worry about him like hes one of my children

dogs love pasta. he should be fine. not great as a regular thing as not balanced enough for a canine but lovely as a one-off.

Wish someone had told our family before we fed all our family dogs chocolate biscuits as treat for years and years. Who knows they might have lived even longer (18, 17 and 18 yrs respectively)

interesting about the onions - I knew about chocolate and grapes/raisins - I am always diving on the floor when DS drops them in an attempt to get there before the dog! Didn't know about onions though, not that my dog has ever had any I don't think.

We avoid giving sweetcorn if possible..........

don't worry, no harm done. He might get the squits mind - if he does, don't worry, no harm done just miss a meal, then put him on a bland (chicken and rice) diet for a few days until it calms down.

My dog used to eat his poo - gross!! If you put pineapple chunks in their food, it apparently makes the poo taste horrible so they dont do it - yuck

Our dog always gets leftovers, we just cut down what he has as his main meal. He has gone off tomatoes and mushrooms recently and although he loves them I won't feed him brussel sprouts anymore, the aftermath is not worth living with.
