hunnybun1981 · 16/01/2009 22:13

THERE IS A STRAY CAT THAT WE FEED AND R KIDS CALL HIM CHARLIE ( CHARLIE AND LOLA DONT ASK)

ANYWAY IT IS LIMPING AND DOESNT WANT TO PUT ITS LEG DOWN LOOKS LIKE THERE IS A GASH ON THE LEG

TBH WE CANT AFFORD A VETS BILL FOR A STRAY CAT , HE DOESNT SLEEP IN R HOUSE SEEMS TO STAY NEXT DOOR MORE OFTEN.

ANY ADVICE?

Check he does not belong to next door first then take him to a local vet and explain he is a stray. HTey may agree to treat him or tell you of a shelter to take him to.

cazboldy · 16/01/2009 22:18

phone the RSPCA

hunnybun1981 · 16/01/2009 22:18

No he doesnt belong to next door he has been hanging around for a year or so he is more of an outdoor cat, r kids love him i brought him in earlier even bought cat litter so if he wanted he cud stay in but he doesnt want to??

i am working all weekend so i cant take him to vet this weekend.

he is still eating etc doesnt seem in pain, is it likely to be broken

any vets/nurses about?

You need to phone someone tonight. You can't leave him on his own. A good vet wouldn't want him left because no one cn pay for him.

hunnybun1981 · 16/01/2009 22:23

he isnt along he is with the cats next door they all sleep in the shed

blue cross

NewAmazingBeginning · 16/01/2009 22:23

I meant alone without treatment! With the best will in the world other cats can't help him.

hunnybun1981 · 16/01/2009 22:26

the neighbour said that the cat has been limping for a few days but it seemed better than what he was.

i cant take the cat anywhere tonight i have 2 young children in bed.

he still wants out to play etc and i cant force it to stay in

HB, i tink NAB means alone as in without help. (which I agree with really - you suspect he has a broken leg, he must be in lots of pain - cats don't tend to show pain as it makes them vunerable).

hunnybun1981 · 16/01/2009 22:27

blue cross isnt in our location thanks anyway

NewAmazingBeginning · 16/01/2009 22:30

Will you ring someone tomorrow?

hunnybun1981 · 16/01/2009 22:35

well if the cat comes back i will try and sort something.

but i wont get home to 8 pm tomorrow night.

OP posts:
NewAmazingBeginning · 16/01/2009 22:36

Please ask someone else to ring ot take it to the vet then.

hunnybun1981 · 16/01/2009 22:37

i wish i had someone else to.

OP posts:
KingCanuteIAm · 16/01/2009 22:38

hb, what were you epecting us to suggest then if you are not going to be able to do anything for 3 days anyway?

I would have thought you would know that we would say "cat with broken/gashed leg = trip to vets"

hunnybun1981 · 16/01/2009 22:39

i was hoping that if there was any vets about they could give advice on it

like i said it is a stray cat not my pet.

OP posts:
EldonAve · 16/01/2009 22:40

get next door to do it then

these sorts of threads are really annoying

hunnybun1981 · 16/01/2009 22:42

dont read them then? simple as

people throw their pets out on the street bcus they cant be annoyed anymore and instead of us reporting it to rspca it comes for food and wanders off sorry does that make me a bad person.

its late on a friday night with 2 young children on my own in bed with no transport sorry its so annoying for u

OP posts:
EldonAve · 16/01/2009 22:45

you ask for advice
we give it
you still do nothing
it's frustrating but that's life

hunnybun1981 · 16/01/2009 22:46

there is nothing i can do we r in ireland that rspca line does not work

yes thats life people like you

OP posts:
EldonAve · 16/01/2009 22:51

why didn't you do anything about it in the day today then?

KingCanuteIAm · 16/01/2009 22:54

hb, if a vet was here right now they would say the same thing, they can't help at a distance. THe only thing we are really able to tell you is that a vet may not charge you for the treatment (although probably won't let you keep the cat).

Sorry you are on you own with the children asleep. I understand that there is nothing you can do right now but you have to see that it is frustraing for the people trying to offer advice to hear that nothing will be doen at all for a cat in trouble (well at least until next week).
