God this is so awful, she wasn't even 2 yet and really was the most loving little girl. Some of you may remember her from back in October when she had her litter of kittens in a neighbouring garden under a pile of scaffolding . she brought back 4 healthy kittens 5 days later and in fact they only went to new homes the week before Christmas.

I went out to the shops and she had just had a special new year breakfast of scrambled eggs and smoked salmon. When I got back, as I pulled into our road I saw her lying on the pavement. She was a good 100 metres away from home by the main road and I never seen her go that far away. She had blood pouring from her little mouth and was obviously dead although only recently. Her collar was in pieces in the road so it must have been quite an impact. I ran home, got a towel and carried my baby home. We buried her in the garden

DD1 is devastated, luckily dd2 is a bit young to understand. What a god damn awful start to the year. Goodbye my beautiful Boo-Boo cat.

so sorry to hear about your lovely cat.

bella29 · 01/01/2009 18:52

So sorry to hear this, hbob. I do remember her having her kittens and how worried you were about her.

It's just awful and there's nothing anyone can say really. At least it would have been instant and she probably knew nothing about it.

All my sympathy x

constancereader · 01/01/2009 18:55

I am sorry.

Sadly I can sympathise as I lost two of my cats this year.

TheInvisibleManDidIt · 01/01/2009 18:57

Oh so sad

Lost one of my favorite cats years ago this way so really sympathise.

She was obviously well loved and had a happy 2 years.

Hope your dc are ok.

NAB3lovelychildren · 01/01/2009 18:59

Oh I am so sorry.

That is the second cat we have lost today.

Rest in Peace Boo-Boo

pigsinmud · 01/01/2009 18:59

So sorry to hear about your cat.

sunnygirl1412 · 01/01/2009 19:02

I am so sorry to hear this - cats have such a way of entwining themselves in your heart. We had to have our 18 month old cat put down just before christmas, and I know how much it hurts.

She'll be in the happy hunting grounds now, where the mice run slowly, and there are lots of nice, warm comfortable places to curl up for a sleep.

Hugs.

Ripeberry · 01/01/2009 19:09

Poor you. At least you found the body. There is nothing worse than when your cat does not come home and you don't know what's happened

tattycoram · 01/01/2009 19:09

Oh I'm so sorry. It is very sad when a cat you love dies, you really do miss them

Suedonim · 01/01/2009 19:14

I'm so sorry, it's heartbreaking. We've had cats who've survived car accidents but we lost our last cat when he just didn't come home one day. From that to day, we've no idea what happened to him.

catweazle · 01/01/2009 19:15

So sorry

treedelivery · 01/01/2009 19:15

Take comfort that she was close to home and found quickly and your not wandering about looking for her iyswim.
Pooy you how awful.

edam · 01/01/2009 19:16

I'm so sorry. RIP Boo-boo cat.

ComeWhineWithMe · 01/01/2009 19:16

I am so sorry .

It's awful when this happens. I'm so sorry. I opened my curtains one morning to see my little one dead in the road right infront of the house. horrible.

I got the girls to each choose their favourite photo of her and then we went to buy nice picture frames and they've got them by their beds. It seemed like a nice commemorative thing to do (we didn;t bury her in the garden, we got the vet to take her). Perhaps your dds would like to do something similar?

I am really so very sorry. This happened to us and it is heartbreaking.

Hangingbellyofbabylon · 01/01/2009 23:43

Thanks for all of your kind thoughts. I feel absolutely devastated now, just can't believe she's gone. My dad died in November and it is all still very raw and losing Boo-Boo today has just send me back spiralling. I feel crap . Off to bed now I think and I will give Lily-boy (boo's son) a cuddle.
