After having a poo in the litter tray she frequently drags her arse on the wooden floor -eurgh!

Occasionally it seems that she still has some poo around her anus that shes obviously trying to get rid of but other times theres no poo left there but she still does it.

She has been wormed.

Eh, where did my S in the title disappear to ?

My old cat used to do this. SOmething to do with anal sacks, we used to have to take her to the vet every six months to have them 'squeezed' - they fill up with something or other and become itchy.

My Morning SIckness has now come back.......... bleurghhhhh

PavlovtheRedNosedReindeer · 07/12/2008 21:38

worms?

TurkeyLurkyWithAllTheTrimmings · 07/12/2008 21:38

Itchy arse?
Scent marking in some way?

Good job humans don't do this sort of thing. Imagine the skidmarks

Boco · 07/12/2008 21:39

When my cat does this the dds are convinced it's her entertaining wheelbarrow impression. She does only seem to do it when we have guests, so maybe they're right.

Hassled · 07/12/2008 21:39

I'm pretty sure the only reason would be worms. She's itching herself. I'd get back to the vets asap.

TinselCoveredWILKIE · 07/12/2008 21:40

I'm not making my post up BTW but carry on ignoring me everyone

NorbertDentressAngel · 07/12/2008 21:43

Wilkie - I'm glad I'm not feeling too delicate today . Gross.

Will make a vets appointment for her "sacks to be emptied" (I'm sure theres some lame joke to be made there that includes Santa's sacks etc )

No Wilkie, i think you're absolutely right, it is anal sacs - not wheelbarrow impression at all. Our cat had hers milked too once. That isn't envy, that's nausea.

SantaGotStuckUpThePelvicfloor · 07/12/2008 21:43

My dog used to do this.It is blocked anul glands and a vet can squeeze them.

fortyplus · 07/12/2008 21:43

My cat does this. I took her to the vet who said it's NOT worms or anal sacks - cats don't have the anal sacks and the worms that they get aren't the sort that cause itching.

It's just a habit caused by not liking the sensation of poo on bum, so nothing you can do about it, unfortunately.

But that's just what my vet said - if anyone does have a so;lution I'd love to hear so I can apply it to my arse-dragging cat!

rebelmum72 · 07/12/2008 21:44

TinselCoveredWILKIE is right.

BarcodeZebra · 07/12/2008 21:44

She needs her anal glands squeezed. You get this with dogs, too. Of course you could just leave it for the sheer comedy value alone.

We used to have to take to dog to get this done every 6 months or so. The vet once offered to show me how to do it. I replied that, whilst this was very generous of him, I'd rather just pay him to do it for me (or rather the dog - nothing wrong with my anal glands...)

Notreallycutoutforthis · 07/12/2008 21:45

Friend of mine had a dog with this problem, and a South African vet. Go on, say it out loud...

TurkeyLurkyWithAllTheTrimmings · 07/12/2008 21:45

Well that makes me even more glad humans don't do it if its due to anal sacs.

I love DH but there's no way I'm squeezing those for him .

Or is that a whole other thread?

troutsprout · 07/12/2008 21:47

It's anal glands

Boco · 07/12/2008 21:48

It has to be anal sacs rather than sacks surely? Sacks far too bulky to be in a cat anus. Or to be dragged by a cat across a carpet.

RedFraggle · 07/12/2008 21:49

Definitely anal glands need squeezing. Our cat had to have this done twice. Cost about £90 on the second occasion as he had to knock her out to do it.

We used to call it bum-skidding....

NorbertDentressAngel · 07/12/2008 21:50

oh thank-you, you lot have cheered me up no end.

I was feeling a bit hacked off earlier so when the cat made an effort to come all the way upstairs to drag her arse on the floor in front of me I was even more pissed off.

This thread has had me roffling .

Theres nothing like discussing the finer points of anal sacs/sacks/glands on a Sunday evening......

EmmalinaC · 07/12/2008 22:01

I was going to say worms... but anal sacs need squeezing?!

I think I might vomit.

Drusilla · 07/12/2008 22:04

Our dog has to have this done and once I caught a whiff of it. It was truly the worst thing I have ever smelt

SantaGotStuckUpThePelvicfloor · 07/12/2008 22:09

ha ha ha

EmmalinaC · 07/12/2008 22:19

I am strangely compelled to return to this thread...

Drusilla was your dog AWAKE while this procedure was carried out? Good god. Mine won't even accept a thermometer anywhere near his arse.
