After having a poo in the litter tray she frequently drags her arse on the wooden floor -eurgh!

Occasionally it seems that she still has some poo around her anus that shes obviously trying to get rid of but other times theres no poo left there but she still does it.

She has been wormed.

God yes, but he is gun trained though, so lets you do absolutely anything to him! Normally it doesn't smell when they do it, but the vet said her hand slipped as she squeezed and a bit seeped out before she could get the cotton wool onto it Foul is not the word.

StripeyKnickersSpottySocks · 07/12/2008 22:36

I remember an episode of James Herriot where he had to squeeze a pug's anal glands.

gemmiereindeerlegs · 07/12/2008 22:39

dear god, my cat does this too.i feel traumatised at the thought of squeezing anal glands.
We just usually throw a cushion at her

EmmalinaC · 07/12/2008 22:52

How can I have had cats and dogs all my life and NOT KNOWN ABOUT THIS?!

I can't stop sniggering.

TinselCoveredWILKIE · 08/12/2008 15:20

BTW - we call it moon-walking

jumpingbeans · 08/12/2008 15:26

Another reason i would never, never ever have a dog or cat in my house, how could anyone want to have an animal. dragging it's shitty arse all over the carpet!!

LedodgyChristmasjumper · 08/12/2008 15:28

Lol at this thread and pmsl at the responses on the you tube link...

'The correct terminology for this is 'scooting.'
This is how your dog gets infected anal glands.
Might seem funny now, but wait until you get the surgery bill from the vet.
What this is is that the dog food you are feeding is not good. Its that simple.
The 100% solution is to feed raw. You might want to try Primal Pet Foods.
My dog no longer scoots being on raw.
Did you think the dog was playing?
Your dog was actually telling you something.

Reply: hehe you said anal

I told my DH about this thread, I was so amused/shocked. He said 'yeah, and...' completely nonplussed. He is from the country - he knows people who squeeze their OWN DOGS' ANAL SACS!

pointydog · 08/12/2008 19:18

oh! My cat has been doing this recently. It's repulsive. I had a thin line of cat shit on my carpet the other night.

I like the thought of boco's cat only doing it to entertaqian visitors.

harpomarx · 08/12/2008 19:22

omg, have just caught my cat doing exactly this...

a lump of poo was stuck on her bum and was being held in place by a long strand of lametta she had eaten. Guess who had to pull it out? and - retching not envious

have you checked your Christmas tree lately?

pointydog · 08/12/2008 19:25

what the heck is lametta?!

harpomarx · 08/12/2008 19:28

It is those thin sparkly strips that you drape artistically on your christmas tree. My idea of christmas decoration is obviously hopelessly outdated and stuck in the 1980s when I think this stuff first hit the shops!

harpomarx · 08/12/2008 19:30

here if you're really curious, pointy!

NorbertDentressAngel · 08/12/2008 19:30

Lametta is the stringy strands tinselly type stuff.

Our tree isn't up yet so lametta is not to blame here.

Its interesting that some of your cats arse-drag on carpet as our cat seems to prefer the wooden floors which I suppose is better in that they are easily mopped.

I must admit I am lol at Emmalina suddenly discovering this strange phenomenon. MN is an education

ahhhh! Angel hair - I love angel hair.

Thought it was some relative of pancetta, some sort of stringy ham

pointydog · 08/12/2008 19:33

we ain;t got no wooden floors. I don't reckon cats a re that fussy when it comes to arse dragging

harpomarx · 08/12/2008 19:35

you're right there, pointy - mine made do with lino

EmmalinaC · 08/12/2008 20:15

I have honestly never seen a cat do this. Seen my dog do it - but only in the park when he's got a bit of grass hanging out his bum-hole.

NorbertDentressAngel · 08/12/2008 20:50

pointydog -I think my cat must be freakishly fussy then.

Normally its the wooden hall floor but at the moment the floors downstairs are covered with this protective film stuff whilst we have some work done so the other night she came all the way upstairs to arse drag on the wooden living room floor (ignoring the protected floor and carpet on the way).
