My cat is 14. She has been curled up in her chair and then a few minutes ago got down and is now limping. She was crying when I touched her paw.
Is currently laid on the floor washing herself but whenever she walks, she lim;s.
Please help.
I have had her since she was 5 weeks and I would be devastated it I lost her.

could she have fallen awkwardly or had a fight?
Best get her to the vet tomorrow anyway. Hope she's okay.

beautifuldays · 03/10/2008 20:30

Have rung emergency vet. Have to keep her in tonight. Nothing to eat tomorrow morning in case she has to be sedated and to ring vet tonight.

So so upset

Thorns are buggers, if they get between her pads/toes, you can't see them at all.

AS she is getting on she might be getting a bit stiff too.

Awww.

Yes, vet in the morning

cornsilk · 03/10/2008 20:35

I'm fine thanks wats - I always seem to see you on a Friday night! Need some facecare advice - will start thread. (You will have to start charging!)
Sorry for hijack op!

BoysAreLikeDogs · 03/10/2008 20:35

Oh well done you.

Lots of cuddles, if she'll let you.

gemmiegoatlegs · 03/10/2008 20:35

arthritis?

Doodle2U · 03/10/2008 20:36

She'll have a blue fit but you need to prepare a bowl of luke warm salt water and dip her paw in to it. It'll help if she has scratched it or has a wound you can't spot.

Also, run your fingers down the leg and compare it to the other leg. You most likely be able to tell if she's twisted it or it's swollen.

Vets in the morning.

ImnotMamaGbutsheLovesMe · 03/10/2008 21:00

She has a bit of arthritis in her back end. She is sat next to me on the sofa looking a bit sorry for herself. I think her leg is a bit swollen.

Best of luck for tomorrow but don't worry - it may be nothing really.

Let us know how she gets on

ImnotMamaGbutsheLovesMe · 04/10/2008 06:46

I have been awake for ages worrying about her.

I have come down and she seems to be walking normally now. Not sure if I should still take her to the vet now.

Take her in anyway, it still might be sore.

ImnotMamaGbutsheLovesMe · 04/10/2008 06:51

Thank you, I will.

Poor thing can't have anything to eat so she keeps following me when I go near her room.

Hope it goes alright at the vet. I know what it's like when you've a cat that's like part of your family.
From what you've said it sounds as though she has something in her paw somewhere - especially if there's swelling etc going up her leg - sounds like whatever is there could be infected.
The fact that she's grooming is good - cats who are dying neglect grooming. Also if she's eating/drinking it's a good sign.

Might just need antibiotics.

If she's stopped limping this morning then it might be that she's got out whatever was in her paw - still worth taking her to the vet though.

You need ooops I think she's a vet.... but then again maybe she ignores the pet postings - busmans holiday and all that.

Hope it goes well with the vet.

ImnotMamaGbutsheLovesMe · 04/10/2008 08:03

She's asking for food which is good but until I know what is happening I cna't give her anything.
She just hissed at DS2 so I think she is okay!
