Just been to visit one of my clients and she has a litter of gorgeous kittens!!
They were 6 weeks old and so cute but I have got a one yr old labrador, and not sure what he would be like
He will try and chase cats but only to play dont think he would bite.....

Tell me im being stupid and I dont need the hassle

I will tell her about the milk. When she told me what she had been giving them, I though it didnt sound right for such small kittens.

VS- she is gorgeous. How many have you got?

I noticed when buying kitten food you can buy kitten formula, I didn't look too closely though.

My kitten is currently chasing my fingers She doesn't get on the kitchen sides and doesn't go upstairs even though we don't have a door. She does throw her litter out of the tray though and brings in live grasshoppers to eat. She is so so cute and cuddly. I always said I wouldn't get a girl cat as the one I had as a kid was horrible but after accidently getting this one I have definitely been proved wrong.

VictorianSqualor · 11/08/2008 16:19

Four. Our cat got PG and had three back in April, but only one was born alive and that one died within two days
She didn't seem at all interested in him either, then she went into season almost immediately, and before the vets would spay her so got PG again and we were pretty worried about it tbh.
Four weeks ago she didn't come home and I went out and found her in one of the outhouses the next morning with 4 little kittens. They've all been great this time, fed well and are now learning to climb out of their box.

flipflopper · 11/08/2008 16:24

Oh wow are you going to keep them all?
I would prefer to get a tom cat as you dont have the worry of them getting pg

Thats why I'm getting mine done as soon as she is old enough there is no way I want kittens

Even DP has fallen for her and he is very anti cats.

I hope you find the right one soon.

solo · 11/08/2008 16:36

Should you not worry about tom's spraying everywhere and have them neutered as well? that's a responsible thing to do imo, plus they'll get into fewer fights with other tom's...

flipflopper · 11/08/2008 16:42

Yes I would def get a tom neutered, but if you get a boy you wouldnt have to worry about them getting pg would you

OP posts:
solo · 11/08/2008 16:51

True, but it would be getting other girl cats pg if not neutered. That often makes for a cat over population problem.

flipflopper · 11/08/2008 17:00

Well, I would get him neutered as soon as poss, you cant do much more than that can you

OP posts:
flipflopper · 11/08/2008 17:02

If I had an un-neutered girl cat, I would keep her in until she had been done, you cant just expect other cat owners take responsibility for your cat can you

OP posts:

Absolutely, but it makes good sense to neuter either sex cat or dog that are domestic pets. Removes potential probs. Good luck with your pet

justhavingamoan · 11/08/2008 17:10

i hate cats - so i wouldnt even entertain the idea. but if u like them then go for it!

VictorianSqualor · 12/08/2008 08:43

Yeah I think we will, we said from the beginning we wouldn't actively seek homes for them, it was our fault Chi got pregnant so it was down to us to deal with it.

MiL wants one, but not until she moves which could be years, so we've agreed to keep one for her and I'm not sure I could bear to part with the others! I'm such a pushover when it comes to animals

bella29 · 12/08/2008 09:17

Just looked at your kitten, VS - so, so cute. I've got a tabby girl who looked like that when I adopted her. I have 4 cats but still get broody when I see little kittens...

VictorianSqualor · 12/08/2008 09:41

Yeah, she is my favourite, I think she is going to be longhaired, she is much fluffier than the others. We all have different favourites though

flipflopper · 12/08/2008 17:56

I have just been to view some kittens, and I have chosen a female black and white and I am picking her up tomorrow!

Need some names now..

OP posts:
bella29 · 12/08/2008 22:25

domino
marbles
gosh, I am hopeless at names...

solo · 13/08/2008 00:22

Zebra. Panda. Humbug. Blight. Blite. Whack.

I dunno.

flipflopper · 13/08/2008 07:04

Just realised I forgot to ask him what food he is giving them- I should get the same as they are on now right?

Am going to buy cat bed today and then pick her up tonight!

Glad I have got this to take my mind off other stuff at the moment, my uncle died last night, I have been up since 4am as couldnt sleep, also my brothers wife had their first baby yesterday so it was a bittersweet day...

Poor you flipflopper - but that's the joy of little furry friends: no matter what else is going on in the world you have a warm cuddly buddy to cheer you up!
Heard on the news this morning that old fashioned names are going out of fashion - may I suggest:

Gladys
Edna
Flo
Ethel

Yes, you should give her the same food she's been on and gradually mix it with a new food over the course of a week, to avoid any tummy upsets.

You must be so excited now.

P.S. Don't forget to get a litter tray as well!

VictorianSqualor · 13/08/2008 10:41

My sympathies.

Our four are called Jet, Naboo, Dave and Samson, my cat is called Chi.

flipflopper · 13/08/2008 20:46

Well I got her, and she is lovely! She is not too timid and has been playing with the kids and purring when stroked, she is under the sofa at the moment though, and I cant tempt her out!

She hasnt met the dog yet, though she has heard him barking, she isnt bothered as she is used to dogs, and I am going to let him get used to her smell for a while longer before they meet.

DD is in charge of naming her and at the moment is undecided between: Lilly, Tallulah and Jessie! (its got to be girly)

VS- our dog is called Samson
