They were 6 weeks old and so cute but I have got a one yr old labrador, and not sure what he would be like
He will try and chase cats but only to play dont think he would bite.....

Cannot even try to talk you out of it, I am afraid... I have 4 cats (incl 1 kitten) and a labrador pupppy and the puppy just loves the cats. In fact, I think he may love one of the cats a bit too much, but that's another story .

Life's too short not to have lots of furry things to love, that's my philosophy

1066andallthat · 02/08/2008 18:56

Just been headbutted by my grown cat and the half-grown one is sleeping, belly up, upstairs. The dog loves the kitten and she gets on much better with the dog than the other cat - personality thing?

Downside - expense: food, injections, extra cleaning.

Upside - the kitten is hilarious; the two cats tear around like lunatics and clean each other. The dog, despite her cat-envy, is also happy to share her basket again. So, happier animals all round. The kitten has taken to DS1, in particular, and he is really pleased.

twoluvlykids · 02/08/2008 19:02

just watch the litter tray, as cat poo is most dogs favourite food.....yuck yuck yuck

constancereader · 02/08/2008 19:30

The trouble with a kitten is that
Eventually it becomes a cat

bentneckwine1 · 02/08/2008 19:39

My eight year old son accidently closed his bedroom door on the kitten's tail. Poor kitten needed to visit the V.E.T. who decided that sadly there was nothing they could do to save the poor tail and that the kitten would need an operation to amputate the damage.

Look at the photos on my profile page...an eleven week old kitten in a buster collar really does have the 'AHH' factor...sorry if you were really wanting me to talk you out of getting a kitten!!

flipflopper · 04/08/2008 16:31

Go get one now - even better, get 2 so they can keep each other company (and create twice the havoc)!

You know you want to....

1066andallthat · 05/08/2008 14:28

Agree with the idea of getting two - two boys are usually great together. Go on, go on, go on and post their photo .

flipflopper · 11/08/2008 14:02

Well it has been taken out of my hands now, as I went to visit them this morning and two of them had died yesterday
Not really sure what had happened to them but they had diarrhoea and then died overnight. The lady that is looking after them has been feeding them on normal cows milk and adult cat food mushed up, so not sure if this has caused them to get poorly as im not sure what tiny kittens eat at this age (they were 6 weeks old)

cats are actually lactose intolerant they should not be having cows milk. the cat that got the cream is a myth. yes they like milk but i like tabaco it doesnt make it good for me.

MaryMungo · 11/08/2008 15:01

She should be mixing the food with warm water, not cow's milk

Little kitten tums can't handle the lactose at all. Adopt the survivors and feed them properly and you'll feel warm all over

bella29 · 11/08/2008 15:19

Yes, for goodness sake at least let her know she shouldn't feed them cow's milk, or they'll all die.
Good luck.

cheesesarnie · 11/08/2008 15:24

why was she feeding them cows milk?does she know nothing about cats/kittens?

my sisters cat just had kittens,i was tempted but cant.

GetOrfMoiLand · 11/08/2008 15:27

Oh, you must get a kitten.

I am going to see my new kitten tonight - will be ready to take home at the beginning of September.

It is apparently gorgeous (ginger as well, I love ginger cats).

Apparently it is a boy, though they're not 100% sure. I have heard though that most ginger cats are boys - can anyone confirm?

I much prefer boy cats, they are far more affectionate (and silly) imo.

The only thing now is the name. I really want to call it something daft like Boris or Cedric, DD wants to call it something cute like Biscuit or Custard. Who will win...!

bella29 · 11/08/2008 15:31

Fantastic names, GOML. Yes, most ginger cats are male but you do very very occasionally get a ginger girl. I vote for Boris...

MaryMungo · 11/08/2008 15:33

Mr. Boris Biscuit sounds a fine name for a ginger tom

solo · 11/08/2008 15:35

Love that cremola, but I don't do cats.

bella29 · 11/08/2008 15:36

Boris Biscuit! Come and get your whiskas!

GetOrfMoiLand · 11/08/2008 15:40

Boris Biscuit lolol

That has got to be the one. Will tell DD.

DP sanguine about whatever it is calle,d though I imagine him saying 'I'm not going into the garden calling f*ing Boris Biscuit', in typical grumpy bloke fashion.

DD's friend has a ginger tom (about 4 months old) and I saw her at the weekend, carrying it around in her arms like a baby.

Am so excited about getting a cat (took years to grind DP down)

VictorianSqualor · 11/08/2008 15:44

We currently have 4 four week old kittens.
Oh they are gorgeous. Just starting to get playful as well.

flipflopper · 11/08/2008 15:55

She wants to keep the remaining 2 herself, so I think I will just leave her to it. Feels sorry for the 2 that didnt survive though, they were so gorgeous.

I think Jaffa is a fab name for a ginger cat- that is the name I liked but dd liked tigger.

I am thinking about asking round if anyone knows of any kittens that need homes! Ive kind of set my heart on it now, I love cats!

MaryMungo · 11/08/2008 16:07

Make sure you tell her about the milk though, or they will continue to get diarrhoea.

VictorianSqualor · 11/08/2008 16:09

here is one of ours, the others are camera shy.
You have to get one, they are so much fun!
