Christmassy name for puppy?

Amandoh · 31/12/2007 23:43

We've just bought a Yorkshire Terrier puppy. She was born on Christmas Eve and her current name is Mary. It's a lovely name but I know a Mary and she might not appreciate us calling our dog the same name. We'd like to give her an equally Christmassy name but have run out of ideas. So far we've come up with...

Holly (Favourite so far)
Eve
Carol (Hmm, not very doggy is it)

We don't collect her until the 16th of February but the Mum's owner has asked what we'll be calling her so she can get used to her new name now. If anyone has any ideas I'd love to hear them.

Thanks in advance

Jingle
Holly is good
Berry?

Beauregard · 31/12/2007 23:45

Holly is good but mary is rather good too, shame you can't keep that.

Maybe if you lengthened it to mary mother of god or something your friend would be ok about it.

I thought Holly before I read your full post.
I have a friend called Mary with a daughter called Holly!

Bailey?? I quite like that as well!

onepieceoflollipop · 01/01/2008 00:05

coby · 01/01/2008 00:06

Norah??? As in 'norah bone' knaw a bone??? It has a 'yorkshire' feel too for a yorkie like Norah batty in last of the summer wine - does she have wrinkly tights your puppy??

moljam · 01/01/2008 00:17

ivy
carol
tinsel
balls

coby · 01/01/2008 00:21

in active convos that came up as ivycaroltinselballs - Imagine them calling that one out in the vets wating room

moljam · 01/01/2008 00:23

pmsl!!!!!!!!!!lol

winestein · 01/01/2008 00:27

Dogs respond well to names with an "ee" at the end, so I vote for Holly, Ivy and Berry. PLEEEEEEAAAAAASE don't call her Brandy. PLEEEEAAAAAAASE.

skerriesmum · 01/01/2008 00:28

We got a dog at Christmas when I was seven and called her Holly! So that's my vote too!

winestein · 01/01/2008 00:29

Oh yes - you need to bear the calling out in the vets scenario too. My last cat was called Greasy. IT was a mistake for those occaisions when I should have washed my hair or applied a little more powder...

coby · 01/01/2008 00:31

Then I amend my suggesstion to Norahee

I had Sasha and Hootch who were often Sashie and Hootchie (although Sahsie was AKA NooNoo as she had a long nose - like NooNoo on teletubbies) I miss my doggies it would have been hootchies b'day today, he would have been 13

moljam · 01/01/2008 00:32

I called my Yorkie Jasper, not a Xmas name but wanted to tell.

I love Yorkies, they're so fiesty, they truly believe they're so much bigger and can fight the hardest dog, and then when they realise they're not so big they run like the clappers.

Enjoy the new addition.
