Lost cat :(

Ladies. Please can someone comfort me that my cat will come back? He went missing yesterday afternoon. I cant eat, sleep, function without him. Ive asked neighbours and walked around again and again. No where to be seen. Cant stop crying. I feel sick with worry that hes hurt.

Thanks. Called vets before and they have his description on their books now. He is chipped anyway. Went for a long walk before and no sign of him. Hopefully going to go with more leaflets this evening.

Still no sign 😥

Flowers I've been thinking of you. Has he been neutered by the way?

Chopsuey1 · 04/12/2019 09:58

@sparklfairy
Yes he has. And microchipped. Its agonising this wait. If he has passed i need to find his body, but even that is torture.

Chopsuey1 if he was injured or worse, unless you're very rural, it's likely he would have been taken to a vet and them contacted you.

I know you said your husband has gone round to neighbours etc, is this something you could do, and see if they'll let you check sheds/garages etc yourself? It's quite likely he's been shut in somewhere by accident. Mine were buggers for this when I was a kid.

Caramel78 · 04/12/2019 10:07

The only other thing I could think of is that someone has hit him with their car and have hidden the evidence due to feeling guilty.
I’m so sorry this is happening to you as the not knowing must be torturous. My cat once went missing during the night and I couldn’t find him anywhere. Eventually heard distant mewing coming from somewhere but couldn’t work out where he was. He was on the bloody roof of the house and couldn’t get down! Think foxes had chased him up there. Worth checking as well as any high trees

Chopsuey1 · 04/12/2019 10:20

Thanks ladies. Luckily we dont live near any major roads. We live on a cul-de-sac. Hes so petrified of cars, people etc so he generally stays in our garden and house. There is some woodland next to our garden which ive searched top to toe and cant find him. He disappeared in the daytime so wondered if he was chased by a another cat, or he chased a cat and then got lost.
I think you're right about checking the neighbours gardens myself. This is what i said to my husband too. Im just worried that my neighbours will think im coming across rude. But i guess il just have to do it.

Sparklfairy · 04/12/2019 10:26

If they think you're rude then sod them. Finding him and your peace of mind is far more important. Even being proactive will help the horrible feeling of waiting and not knowing. Good luck, I'm really hoping for good news for you Flowers

Chopsuey1 · 04/12/2019 11:28

Yes you're right. I just need to do it. At work, dreading going home and him not being there 😔

OP posts:
Chopsuey1 · 05/12/2019 08:54

5 days now. Trying to keep positive but its so hard 😔😔😔

OP posts:
Sparklfairy · 08/12/2019 00:30

Any news @Chopsuey1?

Chopsuey1 · 08/12/2019 04:51

Thanks @WheresMyChocolate

The hope is fading a bit now. I know all you lovely ladies keep sending your lovely stories but I'm struggling to think hes alive now. The wind is howling outside and heavy rain intermittently. If that cant bring him home, i dont know what can.

Wish he was just home with me on my lap, dribbling away as he always would xxx

No @Sparklfairy Sad

Crying by myself at 5am x

Sparklfairy · 08/12/2019 14:48

Oh OP SadFlowers I really feel for you. It's the not knowing that's the worst part. Sending unmumsnetty hugs x

Chopsuey1 · 08/12/2019 17:58

Thank you @sparklfairy

Today me and hubbie discussed mentally preparing that hes gone for good. I think i have to try and get some closure and this is the only way I know how. Ive done everthing i can do and there is just no sign. 😔😔😔

@Chopsuey1 Any news? Please don’t give up yet - cats go missing for a long time and come home/ get found. I’m sorry he’s missing, it’s awful not knowing what’s happened and where he is. Would he do something like jump in a delivery van?

Chopsuey1 · 15/12/2019 08:33

@Aloe6 still no sign of himSad. Two weeks today.

I try to keep hopeful as we really have looked through all the hedges/shrubs/bushes closeby and we cant find his body around. I dont believe that a fox would have got him in the afternoon either. If he was injured, we would have found him by now. He doesnt venture off in the afternoon anymore, so he really would have only gone outside for a wee/poo.

Its incredibly hard. Reading peoples comments on here helps though xxx

I had a cat of around the same age as yours that went missing and showed up about 7 weeks later at a house we had luv3d in previously about 3 years before....Hmm

Chopsuey1 · 15/12/2019 09:51

@lolly86 i love reading stories like this. Although unlikely in my case, it just makes me think how amazing cats really are. We've lived in the same house for 2.5 years now. He's never left home like this before so think hes settled in our house. Our old house was in Leeds and we're in a Lancashire now so cant imagine him being bothered to go back! Thanks for your reply x

Chopsuey1 · 15/12/2019 09:54

Oh and @aloe6 i didnt answer your question. Hes waaay too timid of cars etc so would never be any where close to a delivery van. Interestingly our next door neighbour has never even seen him, thats how timid he was.

3 weeks and no signs of Pickles. So incredibly sad. Each day gets harder. Miss him so much and so sad that i didnt get to say goodbye Sad

Pipstelle · 21/12/2019 22:39

I'm so sorry. I just wanted to leave you message as we lost ours a year ago but at least we had the body. Our other cat now sports a GPS collar!

Aloe6 · 22/12/2019 01:40

I’m really sorry he’s still missing, you must be beside yourselves. It may feel futile but keep up with your searches for him - if he’s timid he could be laying low. It’s good that he isn’t likely to approach people or cars, so he should be close by. But it also means he won’t be captured by someone else if he’s found looking a bit unkempt.

While you haven’t found him, there’s still hope. Take a torch with you to reflect his eyes and go in the middle of the night when it’s quiet and still. We had a cat locked in a neighbours garage and had walked past calling her for days, until one day she meowed back. He could be so close but not responding too.

Come home Pickles Flowers

Here is a link about the behaviour of a lost cat which may help Chop

Chopsuey1 · 22/12/2019 04:42

Thanks @Aloe6
I honestly dont think hes out there anymore. A fox must have got him. Although he disappeared in the afternoon, its just too strange for him to have just vanished. I joined a tabby/tabby white lost cat group yesterday. It was a totally bad idea. The group is just full of cats that look exactly like Pickles but been missing months and months. It just put things into perspective a bit. I keep hoping that Pickles will be the lucky one but after seeing this group, hes just like the rest of these tabby cats.

Gosh i miss him so much.
