Is my cat Male or female?

We've had our kitten for 5 months now, always known her to be a girl. However the other day my partner had her upside down and stroked her belly. I saw what I believe to be two fluffy balls, the photo isn't clear and I'm going to take her to the vets to be neutered anyway, she has long fur so it's hard to tell. What do you think?

I can’t tell either but vet will confirm. It happened to a friend of mine. She thought she had a female kitten, as it got to 6 months it was confirmed to be male. Kept the same name though, Dot. What’s your kitten called?

Wolfiefan · 01/01/2018 22:01

How have you had this kitten for five months and not taken it to a vet?

crazycatgal · 01/01/2018 22:01

Looks like a boy to me.

DramaAlpaca · 01/01/2018 22:03

It's hard to tell from the photo, I'm not even sure which way up the cat is Grin

But what I can tell you is that five month old furry pom poms are quite obvious, so I'm fairly sure your cat is female.

Try posting in The Litter Tray maybe, lots of experts on there.

bonzo77 · 01/01/2018 22:05

I think it’s female. In the photo the tail is at the bottom I think. Right way up, boys look like a colon and girls like a semi-colon.

MrsFoxPlus4 · 01/01/2018 22:05

I have 2 girls and their bits don’t look like that, vote for boy. And get to the vets.

PaperdollCartoon · 01/01/2018 22:06

How have you had a cat this long and not taken it to the vet?

crazycatgal · 01/01/2018 22:07

That's what I based my answer off - I have 4 girls and none of them look like that. The distance between the two bits seems too far away to be female.

Vets is your best bet though.

blueelephant91 · 01/01/2018 22:08

She has been to the vets for injections and check up, she's got long hair and they didn't check that area... also we didn't know any different. I only say this because I noticed the other day. Thanks everyone for advice, she is going to the vets to be neutered, I just asked merely for what people thought!

Her name is Indie - sorry forgot to say!

ScreamingValenta · 01/01/2018 22:09

Not an expert, but looks like a boy to me.

Wolfiefan · 01/01/2018 22:22

If you had this cat 5 months why isn't it neutered? I hope you've kept it inside.
And flea and work treated too. My just vaccinations.

Wolfiefan · 01/01/2018 22:22

Worm. Not work.

Chuffingchuff · 01/01/2018 22:25

I think it's a male.

blueelephant91 · 01/01/2018 22:32

@Wolfiefan because my vet recommends it between 5-6 months, as I previously said she is booked in now. Yes she has been kept inside. Yes she has had flea and worm treatment, I do know how to look after my animals but thank you. I literally just put this post up to see what people thought.

blueelephant91 · 01/01/2018 22:33

When I said I'd had her 5 months I actually meant to say she was 5 months old.

Deadlylampshade · 01/01/2018 22:33

I think it’s a male

MrsFoxPlus4 · 01/01/2018 22:33

I think indie can still be indie regardless, I know a female cat called Kevin 😂

blueelephant91 · 01/01/2018 22:35

@MrsFoxPlus4 haha!! That's brilliant. Yes I think Indie will remain Indie either way!

Deadlylampshade · 01/01/2018 22:36

Both my female cats have boy names. Never harmed them.

blueelephant91 · 01/01/2018 22:37

@Deadlylampshade yeah I agree you're right! 😊

OP posts:
Wolfiefan · 01/01/2018 22:37

Ok. 5 months old is rather different. I would ask the vet rather than online though. And most vets spay or neuter earlier.

blueelephant91 · 01/01/2018 22:38

@Wolfiefan thanks for your advice again. 👍🏻

MinniesAndMickeysNeedCounting · 01/01/2018 22:41

I'd say boy

Deadlylampshade · 01/01/2018 22:42

Can we see a picture of his/her face please? I feel rude I’ve seen her/his midget gems and never been introduced Grin
