OOhh how exciting..
She'll probably start looking round for somewhere to have her babies, make sure youve got some old towels or blankets for wherever she settles to have them.

Nbg · 24/04/2007 11:55

awww how exciting.

Yes, lots of warm cosy places for her.

mommajools · 24/04/2007 12:01

She's been restless for an hour and a half and has just started licking her tum and I can see the contractions - will keep you posted

Our cat was like this when she had her kittens. She was walking up and down our bed miaowing.

Have you got a warm dark box ready for her (although she'll ignore it and have then somewhere awkward.)

Keep an eye on her. Meeshka's kittens came quite fast to start and she was tired and I had to help one out of it's sack and cut the cord.

fifisworld · 24/04/2007 12:10

With my cat we just kept an eye on her and she settled behind the sofa bed in the spare room. Just make sure you are there with her if you can when she is having them, plenty towels and have some dry food and water for her nearby.
Also tyr not to touch the kittens when she's had them if you can help it,my cat got quite angry when we did that.

mommajools · 24/04/2007 12:12

we have a nice bed for her with lots of newspaper around but she is ignoring it - she keeps jumping on my lap then goes upstairs onto my bed then back down again and hasn't stopped miaowing.
How many kittens did Meeska have?
Do you know how long it will take before she gives birth - she became like this just after ten am

my cat was like that for a day or so before she had them, looking round for somewhere to have them and she was very restless. But if your cats contracting she hopefully will have them soon.
If you can i would stop her going on your bed, close your bedroom door coz you'll find it will be hard to move her and the kittens once she's had them.
Everytime we moved our kittens when they were a few days old the cat kept picking them up and taking them back to where she had them

mommajools · 24/04/2007 12:25

all bedroom doors closed and have made another bed behind the computer desk where she likes to sleep sometimes.
how many kittens did yours have fifisworld?

fifisworld · 24/04/2007 12:43

My first cat had 3,and my mums cat had 4, they are both small cats though

soph28 · 24/04/2007 12:45

i'm intrigued now! Is she having them yet?

mommajools · 24/04/2007 12:46

7 ! wow that's a lot!
my cat is quite small but her tum is huge and bigger on one side. She is pure white and the daddy was a fluffly grey.

mommajools · 24/04/2007 12:59

she managed to pus oen my bedroom door - found her under the duvet - door now firmly shut. there was some yellow wet stuff by her bottom so i've brought her downstairs. she was panting a bit and is now lying down trying to sleep.

I was with my cat when she had her kittens a couple of years ago. She went very fast. When she started panting it was only about half an hour until the first kitten appeared
Try and be there if you can, she may need some help if she gets very tired.

Good luck!

fifisworld · 24/04/2007 13:04

Sounds like it wont be long for her, you'll have some gorgeous kittens soon
Can i have one??
Only joking my dp would have a fit

UtterPigsty · 24/04/2007 13:05

TOWELS

HOT WATER

ShowOfHands · 24/04/2007 13:08

Aah. Aah. I'm so pregnant and hormonal I think I might cry.

Little kittens are lovely. And cats in labour are so admirable.

dionnelorraine · 24/04/2007 13:27

Any news???????

Stay with her if poss, cats can get very tired towards the end. Makesure you have the vets phone number to hand in case you are worried about anything, Just to talk to them on the phone if its not serious enough for them to come out.

Good luck! xx

aDad · 24/04/2007 13:29

How exciting!

mommajools · 24/04/2007 13:46

she's managed to push open the bedroom door again so have covered everywhere with newspapers, and she is under the bed in the corner - have pulled out the bed so can see her - rubber her tum for a while and she seems settled. has stopped meiowing but has passed a plug of gunk. has dry food and water. she hasn't followed me down so will be popping back up soon.

OP posts:
fifisworld · 24/04/2007 13:49

Looks like this could be it then if she's settled somewhere

mommajools · 24/04/2007 14:00

she's back downstairs lying on her side miaowing and her contractions look strongish
