BUT, it you have a pet that has eaten lots of your other pets and their vomit

You could still ask about it in 'pets' which is still there.

Lots of people have been asking for sections, especially a dog one (myself not included, so don't shoot the messenger).

What is there to dislike so much?

It splits us all up. It segregates us. Some of us - quite a few, I wager - have interests in several species. I for one can't be arsed to trawl across more than one topic. It's just silly and unnecessary. 'Pets' isn't such a hugely busy topic that it needs splitting.

Barking.

"If you have a pet that has eaten lots of your other pets and their vomit ..."

... it is probably a labrador.

WhereTheWildThingsWere · 08/09/2010 16:33

I do see your point, it's not like 'pets' moves much.

However loads of people have been saying how great it would be to have seperate sections, not quite sure why, and mn have obviously listened, have you let them know your objections?

Well, I have now Grin

I know the Cats have been trying to hive themselves off for a bit, but didn't realise this was all about to take place. Did you? We were never consulted on 'Pets', were we? Some of us never go out of Pets Grin

First I know was when my smelly coat thread disappeared, only to pop up in 'Kennel Club'. How did they know I don't feed smelly chicken to my cats too?

And 'Kennel Club' is - no joking - a deeply offensive name to anyone who gives a fig for dog welfare. Let's rename conception 'Eugenics' and see how they like it!!!!

Eleison · 08/09/2010 16:38

Agree about the name Kennel Club. They are too nasty.

WhereTheWildThingsWere · 08/09/2010 16:46

Agree would have been nice to be asked.....

And yes I have hidden pretty much everything except 'pets' and 'camping', my active convos is very slowGrin.

And yy to name, wouldn't have been my choice. Didn't 'The Tack Room' start out as 'My Little Pony' iirc. There was much hoo haa.

The way I see it, if a group really wants to get their own topic, and if - for instance - more than 2 or 3 people ask for that - then fine.

But why split us all up into lots of completely silly little species??? Why????

WhereTheWildThingsWere · 08/09/2010 16:53

Have just been for a nosy in 'site stuff' and there was a whole thread about it here.

Missed that oneHmm.

Bella32 · 08/09/2010 16:55

Yes, just saw that today.

But 37 posts? And most by an old tart called Bella? Hardly a representative sample!!!

TrinityIsAHappyRhino · 08/09/2010 16:56

I read this as one pet eating your other pets.....and then eating its own vomit, presumably because it vomited after eating your other pets..

WhereTheWildThingsWere · 08/09/2010 16:57

Lol, only read the first page Blush.

Hello.

Apols if Kennel Club is offensive to all

Would you like to suggest an alternative?

Preferably without the word "dog" in it (for discouraging passing-Friday-night-pervs reasons)...

Bella32 · 08/09/2010 17:08

I refuse to be drawn into the name argument, when what really upsets me is the principle. The whole idea is crazy. Why have mnhq decided to split us into separate species just because a few cat owners wanted a separate topic? Why not give them a cat topic and leave the rest alone?

Please Smile

Who? One poster who started that thread? With a handful of posters who agreed?

We dog owners are legion, you know Smile

I know - hence your own topic Smile.

Bella32 · 08/09/2010 17:38

Yeah, good one.

Is Pets really so busy we needed splitting?

Were any of us actually consulted?

My poll (early days, agreed) is 100% in favour of reverting to the old topic.

bumpybecky · 08/09/2010 17:39

I'm a dog owner as well as a cat owner and hate this new division.

Please make it go back to how it was before

Eleison · 08/09/2010 17:41

Can we all do this quote thingy? Or only HQ? Feels just a teensy bit like tanks against infantry.

HelenMumsnet · 08/09/2010 17:52

Hello again.

We see where you're coming from but we already had the Tack Room and Chicken Keepers as separate topics, so when the calls came for dogs and cats topics, it made sense to put them all together in one big category.

For general pets stuff - or cross-species convos - you can still post in Pets (the topic we're in now). We're not deleting it...
