bad cut on cat's ear -advice please

I wonder if anyone has any advice to stop my cat scratching at his badly cut ear until I can get him to the vet tomorrow? I think he has been fighting.

Pet shops sell the anti-scratch collars - have you got an out-of-town one nearby?

I'd make one of http://www.easyduzits.com/images/misc/pet_sitting_6.jpg these from cardboard and attach it too a collar TBH.
