The Supreme Court has issued a ruling relating to the definition of sex in the Equality Act. We want the Government to immediately approve and implement the resulting guidance produced by EHRC. We think the delay is untenable.

We believe the government demonstrates a complete disregard for the rights of all women and girls in everyday life by attempting to delay approving and implementing the guidance produced by the EHRC.

What is the EHRC guidance? Can someone link to it? What are you signing up to? For what it’s worth the EHRC could be toilets all becoming unisex.

The way that BP is sitting on it, I doubt it.

I agree but there’s so much work and investment to do just with toilets. Whatever the EHRC has decided, it has be to feasible. You can’t just say let’s add a unisex toilet then it’ll be fine.
Unisex toilets are the worst in terms of safety for children. We don’t need more of them. The EHRC may not get how much goes into health and safety in design.
For example:
We have lost around 40% of council run public toilets usually down to how much they cost to maintain.
There is no obligation for councils to provide toilets.
When private venues (supermarkets etc) take the place of public toilets, do they have to pay for changes?
England, Wales and Scotland have different building regulations on toilets.
Northern Ireland also has a different Health and Safety body so they need to negotiate with them.
A unisex toilet is different in design from a single sex toilet but in different ways depending on country.
All the countries will have to work to get a feasible solution.

In the toilet world, this is massive.

BP said she was bouncing between HSE and EHRC which is what will be happening.

It does matter that this party in power is trying to block the law of the land from being implemented.

This is an important petition.

I don't understand how they're just allowed to fail to do their job and sit on this. I wish I could tell my boss I'd do my job 'by Easter, maybe'. I doubt it would go down very well though.

Can't believe we have to petition the government to get the law implemented.

Depressingly few signatures. When I signed there were only 1240. Is there anyway to increase publicity?
