Last day to complete survey on violence against women and girls....

Apologies if this has been shared widely but it's the last 24hrs before the Home Office closes their survey to inform their new strategy on tackling violence against women and girls.

surveys.ipsosinteractive.com/mriweb/mriweb.dll

I wrote lots of unfocused, furious, upset text in my response about how I feel about the epidemic of violence against women and girls. I doubt anyone will pay much attention but I felt better for saying it all.

Sorry, duff link. Hopefully this one works.

I get bad request.

MaudTheInvincible · 18/02/2021 20:07

Neither link works for me. Is it this survey linked here? www.gov.uk/government/consultations/violence-against-women-and-girls-vawg-call-for-evidence

Well worth completing, I found it rather cathartic.

WisestIsShe · 18/02/2021 20:08

I also get "bad request".

crocsonmyfeet · 18/02/2021 20:13

Sorry, bad links due to lack of tec-savviness.

Maud's link takes you there.

Cathartic is right.

Thanks Maud I've just completed it.

MaudTheInvincible · 18/02/2021 20:26

I've seen loads of bad requests on those direct links to the survey, not just yours crocsonmyfeet. I wonder if they want respondents to go via the .gov.uk page so that you have to see the info on there before completing or something?

Anyway, it doesn't take long at all to complete, and there's a nice big text box for you to make your feelings known

It closes at 11:45pm,19th Feb (tomorrow). Get it done!

nzborn · 18/02/2021 20:44

Done

nocoolnamesleft · 18/02/2021 21:10

Ooh, the free text boxes are nice and big, aren't they.

Gizmo79 · 18/02/2021 21:14

Completed, Thankyou for letting me know.

Catnuzzle · 18/02/2021 21:24

Done.

Pan2 · 18/02/2021 21:44

Done.

MaudTheInvincible · 18/02/2021 22:45

@nocoolnamesleft

Ooh, the free text boxes are nice and big, aren't they.

Very. I'd almost say luxurious!

littlbrowndog · 18/02/2021 23:06

Done

ahagwearsapointybonnet · 18/02/2021 23:39

Done! and bumping.

Pity about the bit near the end where it asks how you "think of yourself" instead of your sex, and then whether your gender ID is the same as your sex registered at birth or not, but without having an option for "I don't have one"... but it's a good survey otherwise with a fair bit of space to write your thoughts, so don't let that put you off. (Also on the sort-of-but-not-really-sex-question, if you tick "Other" - I don't "feel" female, I just am, so "Other" will do for this silly question - there is a nice long text box where you can write what you DO feel, just saying Wink)

FionaMackenzie · 19/02/2021 10:02

Giving this another bump - last chance to fill this in is 11:45pm TONIGHT.

We Can't Consent to This ask if you could include a call to end the normalised violence against women in sex - as one woman put it on her relationship aged 19-21:
“During sex, which now I would identify as not completely consensual, my abuser would be quite aggressive, on occasion would strangle me, it felt completely demeaning. At the time I just thought this is what sex is, I didn’t have a good sexual experience to reflect on. I remember the concept of rough sex being glorified and normalised, so I never thought that my experiences were negative. It is only now that I am in a long-term caring relationship that I understand.”

Our research on prevalence and causes here for background We Can't Consent to This - 'I thought it was normal'

Hopefully this short survey link should work: ipsos.uk/VAWGsurvey

Goldensyrupissticky · 19/02/2021 11:19

Completed and shared.

Oldstyle1 · 19/02/2021 11:46

Thanks for the really useful link to 'We can't consent to this' Fiona - I'm just doing my submission and had forgotten about that aspect. There's so much to be angry about it's hard to know where to start/finish.

Terranean · 19/02/2021 14:22

Just done this.

It is odd they end up with the gender question. There is no box, so better not to tick anything there and add your sex no gender as a religious belief!

ConquestEmpireHungerPlague · 19/02/2021 14:42

Bumped. I wouldn't have known about this without the thread. God knows by what means the Home Office imagines this was publicised.

MerchedCymru · 19/02/2021 14:51

Thanks for the link Fiona. We'll include it in our submission (so much to do, so little time!).

Outbutnotoutout · 19/02/2021 15:10

Thank you completed it

Impatiens · 19/02/2021 15:18

They've got to do something about sentencing if they're serious about dealing with this.

NiceGerbil · 19/02/2021 16:30

Done- it's still open

NiceGerbil · 19/02/2021 16:30

To gender in the free text I put my sex is female
