Last day to complete survey on violence against women and girls....

Apologies if this has been shared widely but it's the last 24hrs before the Home Office closes their survey to inform their new strategy on tackling violence against women and girls.

I wrote lots of unfocused, furious, upset text in my response about how I feel about the epidemic of violence against women and girls. I doubt anyone will pay much attention but I felt better for saying it all.

And I also had no idea about this until I saw this thread

littlbrowndog · 19/02/2021 16:34

I did mention sentencing

You get 5 years for strangling your wife

Suspended for beating up your girlfriend

littlbrowndog · 19/02/2021 16:34

Suspended sentence should have said

There seems so many of these cases, manipulative men getting away with murder, I'm so sickened by it. This was only last autumn -

10 years. Wonder how much he'll serve?

Bump

MaudTheInvincible · 19/02/2021 17:46
Giving this another bump - last chance to fill this in is 11:45pm TONIGHT.

We Can't Consent to This ask if you could include a call to end the normalised violence against women in sex - as one woman put it on her relationship aged 19-21:
“During sex, which now I would identify as not completely consensual, my abuser would be quite aggressive, on occasion would strangle me, it felt completely demeaning. At the time I just thought this is what sex is, I didn’t have a good sexual experience to reflect on. I remember the concept of rough sex being glorified and normalised, so I never thought that my experiences were negative. It is only now that I am in a long-term caring relationship that I understand.”

Our research on prevalence and causes here for background We Can't Consent to This - 'I thought it was normal'

Hopefully this short survey link should work: ipsos.uk/VAWGsurvey
Thank you for the link to the we can't consent to this site.

Also bumping! Please get your voice heard - it closes tonight at 11:45 BrewDaffodil

Bumpety bump!

ChickenonaMug · 19/02/2021 20:44

Done. I found the first bit of the survey was difficult as I have no idea whether certain crimes have increased or not. But the boxes for your own thoughts were good.

LilyMumsnet · 19/02/2021 20:46

Hi all

We're just moving this over to the petitions topic now. Flowers

MrsTerryPratchett · 19/02/2021 20:49

But it's not a petition @LilyMumsnet

It's a survey on violence. It should be everywhere.

MrsTerryPratchett · 19/02/2021 20:49

Also bump

ChickenonaMug · 19/02/2021 21:28

This is not a petition but a government survey seeking the opinions of the public, especially women who have been subjected to VAWG. @MNHQ have held a web chat with Victoria Atkins MP to encourage us to complete it. Can this please be moved back to where it will most encourage the most people to fill it out in order that the government can reflect the public’s experiences in the new VAWG strategy?

MaudTheInvincible · 19/02/2021 21:40

@LilyMumsnet

Hi all

We're just moving this over to the petitions topic now. Flowers

Thanks for moving this government survey over to the unused backwater of the Petitions board @MNHQ. That's very thoughtful and kind of you.

NiceGerbil · 19/02/2021 22:15

@mnhq

It's not a petition it's a government confirm consultation on their VAWG strategy.

If anything you should be promoting it so that women can respond!

RandomMess · 19/02/2021 22:37

Bump in the night

Terranean · 19/02/2021 22:47

Closes in an hour takes 15 minutes

littlbrowndog · 19/02/2021 22:57

Why are we here. Ffs Mumsnet

MrsTerryPratchett · 19/02/2021 23:01

It's a private matter right? Hide it away!!!

loopyapp · 19/02/2021 23:12

Lets keep this on the active board until the close off time

MrsTerryPratchett · 19/02/2021 23:21

Why not

ChickenonaMug · 19/02/2021 23:21

It is such an important consultation as it will help the government formulate its VAWG strategy for the next few years.
