There used to be a hairdressers' I passed every day called Hair Gem's, with a little gem as the apostrophe. Every time I saw it I hoped the owner was called Gemma.

Not strictly a Pedants’ corner issue, but this reminded me of a sewing/garment repair shop which used to be in my town, called ’A Stitch for Everything’, which I always thought was a bit clunky. I often wondered why not something more catchy like ‘A Stitch in Time’, ‘Stitch This’ or ‘Let’s Stitch You Up’ (well, maybe not the last one!)

And that’s reminded me of a hairdressers on the first floor of a building over another shop. It’s called A Kut Above. wtf ‘Kut’? - it spoils the pun, and looks a bit silly.
