what did you get from your parents for your 18th birthday?

I need some ideas for dd.

So far watch has got a thumbs down.

I got a very old, falling to bits black Mini Clubman. But blimey I loved that car.

I got a violin
and for my 21st, a bracelet which broke on its second wearing. They then got a car which they said was my 21st birthday present, and I was allowed to use for 6 months before they gave it to my sister

I'll always remember my 18th. Had a flight on a Dakota airplaine flying over the Severn Bridge from Cardiff Airport and that evening went to a Chinesse restaurant with my best friend and spent over £50 (back in the 80s)
My best friend's parents had also arranged for a surprise party at their house.
Very busy but happy day!

I got a clock radio. Dsis got an oboe, worth ten times what my clock radio cost. I'm not bitter. Much.

i got a car

A Panasonic stereo. It's still my main "sound system"

I got a parachute jump and was the envy of all my friends

Other friends got:
A cheque
A stereo
A gold necklace

But I liked mine best

I also got a sewing machine (second hand). It is still working a significant number of years later.
Made mistake of buying DS1 a lap top - so he could take it to university. It stopped working after 2 years.
For DS2 I bought him a good quality tent for backpacking etc and we will give him some money towards his gap year ski course.
