Is 5 - 7pm too late for a 4yr olds party?

Ds is 4 next birthday. Will be inviting children from nursery so a mix of 3 and 4 year olds.

The wacky warehouse close to us will do an exclusive party for an extra £40 but 5-7pm is the only time they have.

Is it too late? Would you let your dcs go but secretly bitching about it? Or will people just not come?

Should I have an earlier time and hope the place isn't too busy (it's a Saturday so not much chance of that).

Oh decisions, decisions .

as it is off a weekend it wouldn't bother me, but def no for weekday

LadyMuck · 09/01/2009 18:15

Too late for a 3yo imo.

SixSpot · 09/01/2009 18:19

Too late for most 3-4 year olds I think. And quite an inconvenient time for parents of more than one child, who need to sort out evening meal for other children.

Gorionine · 09/01/2009 18:20

a bit late, you might find they will get irritable. Could you postpone the party at all?

dietstartstomorrow · 09/01/2009 18:20

yes too late.

I think it is too late. I went to one of these parties for a 5 year old (so guests all 4-5). People were secretly bitching about it.

ANTagony · 09/01/2009 18:21

Went to one a couple of months back a 4th birthday and most people left by about 6.15 and missed cake - the kids got too tired.

IdrisTheDragon · 09/01/2009 18:21

My three year old would get irritable. Tbh my 5 year old could well get a bit irritable as well.

KristinaM · 09/01/2009 18:21

ChasingSquirrels · 09/01/2009 18:23

Too late

kittywise · 09/01/2009 18:32

yes, too late

ForeverOptimistic · 09/01/2009 18:35

Yes, I know lots of children that age that still go to bed at 7.00 on the dot so you might end up with some very fractious little ones!

Ds goes to bed later but would still not be at his best at that time.

bodiddly · 09/01/2009 18:37

too late .. my ds would be grumpy by then and in bed usually by the end!

DorisIsAPinkDragon · 09/01/2009 19:06

would be pushing it, dd may manage but I would be prepared for some "challenging" behaviour from some.

And I would expected behind hands bitching ( not from me oh course)

beansmum · 09/01/2009 19:12

Too late. I wouldn't take ds to a party that late and he's nearly 5.

piscesmoon · 09/01/2009 19:13

Too late.

tootiredtothink · 09/01/2009 19:37

Wow - never known MN so united .

Thanks for all your replies but going to do it anyway.........oh, forgot I'm not on AIBU!!!

I shall do an early afternoon party to combine lunch - they're the ones I prefer going to as I don't have to feed them.

Sure to be back here again panicking and looking for ideas .

notnowbernard · 09/01/2009 19:38

My 5yr old is in bed by 7pm nearly every night

mrsdisorganised · 09/01/2009 19:40

Too late, they need time to calm down after a party.

Diva0507 · 09/01/2009 19:47

yes, its too late, dd gets in bed 7 weekdays or 8 weekends.

LynetteScavo · 09/01/2009 19:51

My DD would fall asleep in the car on the way there.

DS went to a 6 year old party from 5-7, and I thought that was a bit late, but still let him go as it was one of his best freinds.
