nature babycare nappies - change of design

Hello, apologies first for still having a xmas name but haven't been on in an age and now rushing so no time to change it!!
Anyone else discovered that naty have changed their tab design on their nappies and now totally crap? Am so pissed off they've always been brilliant and now they don't even stick properly and snap really easily. Have emailed them to tell them but I feel like I'm just one voice so if anyone else cross about this please email them, if enough people moan about it then they might just listen!!

I agree totally! We have got DS to 20 months old without accidents or major leaks and nothing but praise for these nappies then suddenly they change them - and just tonight we've had leaked-on jeans, and since bathtime I've put the same nappy back on three times and have had to resort to sticky tape between the tabs.

Nursery can't get them to stick either!

I am really annoyed that tomorrow I'm going to have to find an alternative. I think Sainsbury's does their own eco, so that'll be the first try.

bah!

Chunkamatic · 10/07/2009 20:47

Moonbells I have used Sainsbury's own brand eco before and they're OK. I would have said not as good as Nature Babycare but if you're saying the new design doesnt work for you worth a try. I found they dont hold as much liquid, so after a 12 hour night time my DS's nappy would be slightly damp on the outside, iykwim?

Out of interest how recently did you buy the new Nature Babycare nappies? I'm still using some i got on special offer a few weeks ago so wnat to know what to look out for! I'll be annoyed if they are rubbish, i've been fairly loyal to them for 16 months!

norktasticninja · 10/07/2009 20:59

Ah, I thought it was just us! Maybe you could link to this thread if you email them again?

I usually use washables but tend to have a pack of Nature Babies for emergencies and have used them for too. I've always liked them well enough.

When DS was born (5 weeks ago) I decided to use them for a few weeks just to make things whilst I got used to 2 under 2... They were utterly useless - I managed 3 days with DD and 5 with DS. They just kept leaking (DS) and falling off (DD) It was really disappointing but I'd hoped it was just a bad batch.

I have a friend who uses them full time and has done for 23 months now, I'll ask her how she's getting on. They are pretty much the only eco-nappy available over here (the Netherlands).

While we're on the subject, does anyone else find the Nature Babies wipes are dryer than they used to be? I usually use washables so it'd been a while, but I'm sure they used to be a bit wetter.

If you are set on using disposables, maybe you could use them, but with a popper wrap designed for washables over the top? You would only need to buy one or 2 and they go very cheap second hand. Just a suggestion! Never used those nappies as we use washables.

PurlyQueen · 11/07/2009 14:45

You're right - the new tabs don't stick and snap off too easily. I thought I had a dodgy pack.

AnnieLobeseder · 11/07/2009 14:52

Oh dear, will have to look out for this. We use the pull-ups for dd1 at night, and have them for an emergency nappy for dd2 (use cloth). I hope they sort it out before we need to buy more.

Just a note about the Sainsbury's eco nappies - apart from using a little less plastic in the manufacture, they're not 'eco' at all. They're completely not biodegradable, just like Huggies and the rest of the environmental disaster bunch. Please try to contact Naty and sort it out before you change to a non-eco brand.

I've phoned Sainsbury before to complain about them using the word 'eco' on products which really aren't. The packaging on their wipes isn't even recycleable, FFS! I bet the same goes for the nappy packaging....

Pingpong · 11/07/2009 15:02

I used Nature nappies FT til DD was 6 months then started on cloth but still use a nature nappy at night and for holidays. I had a dodgy pack about 2 months ago. Last lot seem fine but I'm not using many. Did use them last weekend as we were away but it was maybe an old pack my mum had kept from our last visit. I meant to email Naty about the dodgy pack but forgot.
My Tesco extra used to have a reasonable stock of them but yesterday the shelf was completely clear of them - maybe they've been recalled?
They have no wipes or bags either so I suppose they might have dropped them altogether.

moonbells · 11/07/2009 18:15

Interesting. I used the complaint forms on the naty website to moan about their new design, and have asked them to email me when they have fixed it. Hopefully I'll also get a refund on the two packs I bought since they state that leaks are something they don't want. (Good reason for everyone to complain!)
Didn't realise the JS ecos weren't. We bought some this morning and they've the same tabs as the old naty ones. Can see they won't hold as much liquid! But hope they'll tide us through until Naty sorts out their manufacturing problem... better them than huggies or pampers...

Boots also has the new style ones - I went there hoping there were some old packs but sadly not.

mellymooks · 13/07/2009 13:44

This is mellymince pies with my real mumsnet name melly mooks!! Thanks for replying everyone. I've emailed them twice now and they don't seem to get that I'm not complaining about a one off dodgy pack but that the actual new design is rubbish!!!!
Please urge everyone to email and complain - also complain to Waitrose or whereever you buy them from as they are not going to want to stock a rubbish product, if enough of us complain along with their stockists they will hopefully listen and change the design back.

mellymooks · 13/07/2009 13:53

I have just emailed them again and sent them the link to this thread - well it's worth a go eh?!

IlanaK · 13/07/2009 13:58

Same problem here. I thought that ds3 was just growing so changed up a size. But we have had a massive poo leak this morning already and regular leaks over the week. I am not happy and will have to change brands if they don't change the design.

mellymooks · 13/07/2009 16:43

Then please don't just moan here and hope it gets changed - please email them and nag nag nag the more of us that do the more chance there is of a result people power can still work!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

moonbells · 14/07/2009 08:26

I haven't yet had a reply to my complaint - I used the feedback form. Should I email directly?

Managed to find four more old-type ones and am using them for overnights, but once they're gone...

WHY OH WHY do they change things that are already good? Do these people know the phrase If it ain't broke, don't fix it?

Something nursery also commented on - DS came out in a rash since they changed, so I suspect they also changed something else.

Come on Naty, changing the design to something which leaks and doesn't stay on without using sellotape or safety pins is not a good way of staying in business - please change them back!!!

LadyBear · 14/07/2009 11:20

Blimey, another one here who thought it was just me or a dodgy pack. I'm about to change to washables anyway but thought I's keep some for emergencies etc. Maybe not then..currently far too many bf poo explosions ruining clothes. my brief google has only led me to the usa site - is there a uk one?

moonbells · 14/07/2009 11:28

I've just sent a fairly blistering email to [email protected] pointing out that you shouldn't have to use sellotape to get nappies to stay on and please would they a) give me a refund and b) go back to the old tab design as the new ones don't allow enough wraparound to prevent leaks unless you stretch them, in which case they pop off at first wriggle.

Let's see if they deign to reply this time...

twelveyeargap · 14/07/2009 11:47

Another disgruntled user. Have used them on two children for over two years and suddenly have leaks for the first time and nappies falling off. Will also email the company.

moonbells · 14/07/2009 18:55

Got this form reply: not sure they realise it's their design I was complaining about! Certainly they don't seem to see that

"Your compensation + pre-paid envelope will be sent out within the next few days.

If you haven?t received your compensation + pre-paid envelope in four weeks time from now, please contact us again.

Thank you for taking the time to contact us and for your interest in Nature Babycare products. Especially for your comments about our new Comfort Fit design.

We are constantly working to improve our diapers. Rather than spending millions on a marketing campaign, we focus on research and development so that you can be sure Nature Babycare diapers are environmentally friendly and give you superior performance.

With this in mind, and our concern for the environment, we have created a thinner diaper that uses fewer raw materials so that it fits your child better.

We love hearing from customers like you. Your ideas and comments are incredibly valuable to us so that we can make sure our diapers continue to perform at a high level. As mentioned, we are constantly working to develop our diapers further and will take your ideas and comments into consideration as we work to improve upon our existing design.

Hopefully this answers your questions and you will continue to use Nature Babycare knowing that they are good for the environment and good for your baby."

mellymooks · 14/07/2009 19:00

Hi everyone THANKYOU so much for nagging too!! It took them 6 days to reply to my first email which I sent to the [email protected] and I've kept sending updates linked to my first email about the poor performance and then the link to this thread I've just had another email today saying they are going to reimburse me and that they have changed design as it uses less materials so better for environment and more comfortable for the baby?!?!?! Hmmmmm sounds like a money saving ruse to me.........
let's keep at it, just think if there is 17 of us who have actually bothered to look for this link and write on it there must be many more pissed off customers out there. Get everyone you know who uses them to email and get all of them to get everyone they know to email we can make a difference!!!!!!!!
Please could I also encourage you to fill out comments on the reviews part of this site as naturebaby get cracking percentages at the mo for their "brilliant" performance!!

mellymooks · 14/07/2009 19:04

Moonbells - that is the exact same reply they have just sent me. Doesn't look like they are really taking on board what we are saying does it?!
Think we need to keep complaining I refuse to be palmed off that easily. I usually can't be bothered with complaining about anything but this has really got to me - a product that was so good, affordable and less harmful to babe and the environment and they go and mess it up, why or why I do not know?!

moonbells · 14/07/2009 21:20

mellymooks - I am very tempted to reply to the email acknowledging that they are just sending a form mail and obviously they don't really care at all or they'd actually deal with the comments I made. They hadn't read what I sent as I said I could not continue to buy their products - and then they thank me for using them...

sigh why do ethical firms always sooner or later abandon their principles for money?

Anyone here ever tried Moltex Oko nappies? They always look stupidly expensive and with my Mr Wriggle they'd have to be good fits!

moonbells · 15/07/2009 15:56

UPDATE!!!!!!

New email received! Here is the relevant section which is good news:

"We are constantly working to improve our nappies. That?s why we value your
feedback so much. We have created a new design, a thinner nappy that uses
fewer raw materials so that it fits your child better. Unfortunately, there
is a possibility that certain sizes of the new design Nature Babycare have
proven to be less effective than we would have expected.

With the prompt feedback from customers like you, we have been able to
design a solution. We are in the process of making this change immediately
so that our Nature Babycare nappies will continue to give you the
performance you came to expect. To be sure that you can begin using Nature
Babycare products with confidence, we are shipping new nappies to the
affected areas. These new nappies will ensure that the tab fastens properly
to the front panel and will be arriving shortly. This will once again allow
you to go green without giving up performance. "

mellymooks · 16/07/2009 08:56

Hey Moonbells - got the same one this morning too!! Lets hope they really mean it and we see a change quickly, if not I guess we'll have to keep nagging!!

twelveyeargap · 19/07/2009 12:21

Just had a look in my spam folder and discovered the same response. Am emailing them my Ocado receipts now. Fingers crossed the newer design is better. I like that I can get the NATY nappies with my regular shopping than having to do a special order for them.

Niknak21 · 20/07/2009 08:30

No time to read this post, but I am thinking about changing to another nappy. This morning we had poo in the baby grow cos the new ones always seem to come undone over night. Lovely!

Niknak21 · 20/07/2009 08:40

Quickly read, will email them later
