I'm 34 and pregnant with our second. I wish I'd been able to start earlier! The energy level is deffo not what it was when I was younger and it's much harder to go w/o sleep.

Had my first at 34! So far so good!!

I'm 33 and have two dds already. Keep thinking about another one but dh isn't having any of it. Reading that article has opened my eyes.

well personally I had my dd aged 29, oddly the same as my Mum and my Gran (although that wasn't my mum's mum! who had her last at 42! and she had 8!! notibly all boys bar my mum, the last!)
I have to say this was the right age for me, as I certainly wasn't sorted enough in myself to deal with anyone bar myself up until then (men included, but that probably reflected in my choice of them upuntil then also...), a selfish comment, but a true one. Glad I waited as I am enjoying being a mum now, and certainly would not have wanted to be one any earlier.
I have always wholeheartedly respected anyone who is a mum, as many of my friends did the journey way before I, as its bloody hard work, no matter what age you are!

Well I'm 34 and have just had my 5th!!

My first was born when I was 21 and reckon this time around I was far more tired than I was in my 20's. Think I'll give up having any more as I don't think I'd cope with the sleepless nights when I'm approaching 40!!!

well dunno if there right or wrong but i had ds when i was 17 and hes now 8 months and were all happy and health but we'll see saying that tohugh my pregnancy was the worst ever! so you never know lol!

The comments by Linda Jones at the end are absolutely outrageous! How dare she assume that she is more understanding of what her child needs than younger Mums? Silly cow - by and large that understanding comes with the relationship, whatever the age. And I'm definitely an older Mum.

The whole article is just silly - and as they say at the beginning, doesn't take any other factors into account.

First at 31 second at 33. I would imagine it largely depends on the kind of person you are and your circumstances as to when the best time is. I think for me it was about right but if I had been given the chance to have children earlier I would have. I think once you are a bit older you are hopefully more financially secure which does make life easier, but everything else depends on how you are.

I was 34 when Ihad DS (my first) and totally think it was best age... done loads of travelling, going out and spending time and money on me... had had 4 fab years with DH and it was the perfect time.... I have never once resented drop in social life or holidays as felt I had done it all to death...

HMB you are getting younger and younger! I am a bit worried about this. How will you cope when your children are older than you are? If you have any more, you might find yourself changing nappies when you yourself are wearing them!

Sometimes when I'm knackered I wish I'd had no 2 earlier (I was 37) but actually, I'd have been knackered whatever age I was I think. I think the RCM woman's right, other factors prob contribute to the findings so yes, a silly article, as Blu says. Gosh, I'm surprised that ave age at 1st pregnancy is 29, that seems higher than I'd have expected.

I don't think there is a paerfect age, but I look at my girlfriends who want to put off having children until later in their thirties and I think it's a big risk. What if you want to have more than one or if you have difficulty in conceiving?

Can happen whatever age though Fairymum.
