At playgroup I was chatting to this(ostensibly)really nice mum.

BUT god she droned on about her kids as if they had been thrust upon her.

" Oh god its BATH time" she whinged. And her H had had the temerity to "skive off" at work.

Everything was negative and her older kids are at primary school so hardly babes in arms.

Girls it's a real turn off.

DD2 argues with the cbeebies presenters then she tries and gets me to tell them off!

Seuss · 28/11/2008 22:14

Actually I think I have got a mini-me; moany, stompy, stroppy-pants - that's dd! I am so proud

Seuss · 28/11/2008 22:14

lol at arguing with cbeebies presenters - that's going to be fun when she can write letters!

maybe it is just healthier for some people to moan? do you feel better afterwards?

Seuss · 28/11/2008 22:16

I suppose I better go and wash their clothes, feed the cat blah blah, grumble, moan.

Seuss · 28/11/2008 22:18

Oh yes - I feel much better now! I think admitting I moan has been good for me too. I will try and make a conscious effort not to do it in front of new people in toddler groups though!

mysterymoniker · 28/11/2008 22:20

it depends if your moaning is funny or not

does it make people laugh or do you sense that they are struggling to not stab you in the head?

sweetkitty · 28/11/2008 22:28

See at our toddler group thats what we used to do dump the kids to play with each other and have a coffee and a moan. Now all my friends have left and I am still there as I have a new baby I have to make conversation with the new people and can't moan.

noonki · 28/11/2008 22:31

I was in the park the other day with my 3 kids and 2 dogs, and a woman came up and 'jesus what a handful, I don't know how you do it'

I bruskly replied that I was thinking of having four and she said 'four dogs you must be mad. I've 5 kids, but we could never have more than one dog, too much like hard work'

made me smile.

I do find the moaners about life wiht kids DO always feel the urge to make life harder by geting a dog that spends much of its adult life with it's snout in your fanny or locked in the downstairs cupboard.

LynetteScavo · 29/11/2008 09:49

ROFL Coagulate! That is so true!

I will not get a labrador
I will not get a labrador
I will not get a labrador
I will not get a labrador
I will not get a labrador
I will not get a labrador
I will not get a labrador
I will not get a labrador

nowtygaffer · 29/11/2008 09:51

That sounds like my SIL!! She spent 10yrs moaning about her 4 kids and then got a dog the week her DH had the snip!!

Coagulate · 29/11/2008 09:55

The minute the last kid goes to school they get a dog. ( latterly referred to as " that bleeding dog") that inhibits all social occasions - scares off babysitters and restricts foreign travel.

Go figure.

DoomGloomAndKaboom · 29/11/2008 10:00

Well I think when life gives you lemons you should make lemonade

It's very sad if you find your life tough with FOUR WHOLE CHILDREN but there's always lots to smile about - dewdrops on the hanging basket outside your door, pink noses on kittens, a giggling baby or a large glass of gin.

When my children make me feel blue, I just remember all the lovely things we do together - lots of crafts and baking cupcakes, singing our favourites tunes and having a nice cuddle and fairy story before the phenergan kicks in.

Coagulate · 29/11/2008 10:02

warm woollen mitten?
Bright copper kettles?

mysterymoniker · 29/11/2008 10:05

ah but life without a dog is just not complete somehow

DoomGloomAndKaboom · 29/11/2008 10:06

No, we have an electric kettle and leather gloves in our family.

We love to see the steam rise and settle on the window, and then we can draw lots of smiley faces and angles and doves with our fingers encased in dead cow.

Oh! how we titter.

Everybody who feels a little bit sad should just remember it's nearly CHRISTMAS! which will cheer us all up. lots of lovely presents and tinsel all over a super tree and some yummy yummy whiskey for breakfast.

Coagulate · 29/11/2008 10:17

And methadone for the afternoon?

DoomGloomAndKaboom · 29/11/2008 10:17

Don't be so silly.

We all have crack at four o'clock whether we need it or not.
