I am pregnant with baby number 3, 2 ds's so far and we'd love a daughter (won't be at all dissapointed if its a boy either). now i'm not thick i know the chances are 50-50 but just wondered how many people have had a daughter after 2 boys, because i don't know any!

I can think of a number of people who had 2 boys then a girl; also a pal who recently had a girl after 3 boys.

(everyone asked her - oh are you so pleased to have a girl at last? - as if that's why they kept going! don't think it was tho )

chugga I thought it did
someone posted earlier about acidity/alkalinity and I thought that was the current thinking (IYSWIM)
although agree it's not the gender of the first/second causing the gender of the third!

acidity/alkalinity is unlikely to have any effect on the gender of offspring - the reason for this is that proteins and enzymes are extremely pH sensitive, and if outside of miniscule tollerences of acidity the proteins denature, and so sperm motility, egg fertilisation, fallopian motility, and implamentation just cant happen, not to mention DNA replication.

Me, me , me

DS1 2003
DS2 2005
DD 2008

When I decided to go for a third I assumed it would be a boy and was perfectly happy about it. I was a bit wary of the idea of having a little girl, as I found my boys so easy and enjoyable and little girls seemed more complex. So I was pretty surprised at the 20 week scan when they said it was a girl. She is 3mo now and I have adjusted to the idea and am starting to feel quite fortunate, but she is harder work than my boys ever were - that may not be a gender thing thoug - could just be her little personality.

Re the conception I didn't intentionally do anything different.

Good Luck

Two boys followed by two girls here. I'd have been happy with a third boy when I had dd1 as I was terrified at the idea of a girl, but when I had dd2 I was very keen to have another girl. Some people are never happy, lol!

My best friend has two boys then one girl. Most other friends just have two dc although I know a number of people with either four boys or four girls.

My mum's friend had six girls, one boy and then a further girl, making eight in all.

I know a family who had 7 girls followed by a boy. They just refused to admit defeat!

I had a girl followed by 3 boys then a looooooonnnnggg gap and another girl.

Another family we know had 4 girls at 3 yearly intervals then a boy after a 12 year gap.
