I am pregnant with baby number 3, 2 ds's so far and we'd love a daughter (won't be at all dissapointed if its a boy either). now i'm not thick i know the chances are 50-50 but just wondered how many people have had a daughter after 2 boys, because i don't know any!

am sure i read that if you have 2 children of the same sex the probability of having a third of that same sex is 75%. however i may be totally wrong - just resonated as i have two boys and wondered what i'd be likely to have if i had a third.

i know families though with two boys and then a daughter and my bil is one of 5 - 4 boys and finally the long awaited girl.

good luck with the rest of your pregnancy.

Lol Georgimama, How did you guess. Yes,she very nearly was an Octavia.

Doublebluff, no profile - as Georgiemama says, I'm a slacker and I'm too lazy to do one.

Bubble99 · 10/09/2008 21:20

My mum!

But not me. Four boys here.

yomellamoHelly · 10/09/2008 21:22

Snap! In exactly same boat, but too early to know. Debate on boys' names has already begun! (Being realistic - I read it was 86% another of same sex.) It wold be nice though ...

Twelvelegs · 10/09/2008 21:25

I have 2 boys (5,6) and a girl (aged 2), now expecting a boy.

Twelvelegs · 10/09/2008 21:26

PS We tried to have a girl, by conception before ovulation by a couple of days.

IdrisTheDragon · 10/09/2008 21:28

DH's mum and dad had two boys then a girl

LouMacca · 10/09/2008 21:40

Me. I have two older brothers.

Hubby is firstborn, then brother then sister.

morocco · 10/09/2008 21:42

I've got 2 ds' and then a little dd. it's a great combo. but 3 ds' would have been fab too.

blissieblue · 10/09/2008 23:07

Me too. I was a longed for dd after 2 ds's.

I now have 2 ds's and would dearly love if history could repeat itself to bring me a dd but it looks like there will be no more babies for me

lou33 · 10/09/2008 23:08

my sister had 2 sons then 2 daughters and i had 2 daughters then 2 sons

shinyshoes · 10/09/2008 23:09

ME - Ds 1 is 11
DS2 is nearly 8 years old
DD1 is 8 months old

I would like another, but now I feel it's complete

chipmonkey · 10/09/2008 23:59

By the way, it is 50:50 each time, studies have shown.
But there will always be that 1 in 16 of us that have 4 of one or the other.

WendyWeber · 11/09/2008 00:01

I have the opposite - 2 girls, then a boy (& then another boy )

jes74 · 11/09/2008 00:06

2 boys then girl then boy

kidsx4 · 11/09/2008 10:51

me 2 ds's now 14 and 12, then dd9 then ds nearly 2.

serenity · 11/09/2008 10:55

Me, my SIL, My Mum (but she was opposite, 2 girls than a boy)

MissClavel · 11/09/2008 19:50

Me! I have boys of 6 and 4 and a DD of 2. Pregnancy with DD was completely different, with much puking, but I still assumed she was a boy because DH is from a family that has only fathered boys for generations. Also I was irritated with people saying 'fingers crossed for a girl' every time they saw me, and was v defensive on behalf of my (I thought) unborn son.

When she emerged I was and even, before we noticed, uttered the words 'Hello, Oscar' to her.

yummybunnymummy · 11/09/2008 23:18

as long as its the same partner, if you have 2 children of the same sex its about a 75-80% chance of the same sex third time round, there is scientific research behind this,

JodieG1 · 11/09/2008 23:23

Sorry but where is the research behind that? I can't believe there is a 75-80% chance of having the same sex child again after 2 of the same sex. Please link to a proper scientific study with lots of people in it.

I had a dd and then 2 ds's, same father but we have now split up as of a month or 2 ago.

ChacunaSonGout · 11/09/2008 23:26

i had a boy and a girl

followed by 4 boys - same dad

1dilemma · 11/09/2008 23:33

It's not 50:50 though is it? I thought there were more boys than girls born so isn't it 51:49 (boys to girls)
I also thought that if you had 2 boys you were more likely to have another boy than having a third girl if you had 2 girls, but you are still more likely to have 3 girls than GGB.
Not as sure about the second 'fact' as I am about the first

chuggabopps · 11/09/2008 23:43

1dilemma- you are right in your ratio of live births, however the sex of previous offspring has no sway on subsequent ones.
