You are right to get tough grrrl. He does not need to feed in the night anymore but he will want it as long as it is on offer....Do you dreamfeed? I really recommend it.

Bet that was nice for you simpson! Mmmm poo everywhere then really! Thank god for scented nappy sacks and that our babies bottoms are so squshy and squeezy that aftet they are cleaned and dryed, all is forgiven

I am aching after bodybalance last night and may have sustained a knee ligament injury. I say may because I have not had it seen by my GP and am currently using the HIWGA method of treatment ( as in Hope It Will Go Away) but so far it is not successful.

Went out for a walk this morning with friends and my friends little boy was holding DD1s hand and when he hitched up his trousers etc, she did the same! It was soooo cute. I wish I'd have had a camcorder or had the sence to get out my phone....

simpson · 13/08/2008 18:01

Jewels - LOL at your treatment for your knee

I have had a pretty tough day today. DD is starting to whine ALL the time unless she is being carried.

DS has moaned because he has been bored. A combination of bad weather and DS having been VERY active over the last few days I thought he might like a lazy day to play with toys etc but silly me was wrong. I have not been able to do anything without him wanting to climb on me or "I want a hug!"

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

(and breathe!!)

TattooedGrrrl · 14/08/2008 14:11

Hi all,

Hellish night, but no boob and DS2 came to bed at about 4.30am, which is a huge result for me. I did give him milk from a bottle, and i will do so tonight, but water only from Friday night. He fought me all the way- even trying to get my top down at 2am! I was strong though!!

Well I am signing out for 2 weeks as am off to Holland early tomorrow morning on holiday so will cat up when I am back

diddle · 14/08/2008 19:57

well done grrrl that must be really tough. hope it continues to go well.

My days are getting easier children wise, but worse pregnancy wise. had a good nights sleep and still feel knackered

justkeepswimming · 14/08/2008 20:31

hi all

well had a good day here (aside from my usual snappishness at poor dh, thinking the pill not agreeing with me but going to keep taking it for a bit longer);
this morning i went back to bed with my book for a bit, we all went to the beach for a (chilly) 45 mins before lunch (ds1 loves digging holes and burying his toes).
came back for warming soup (it IS AUGUST isn't it???!!).
had 'quiet time' as ds1 doesn't nap anymore and ds2 slept for 2 hours. then we headed off on a long overdue & much talked about trip on a ...BUS
ds1 loved it!
we went into town, got his feet measured, some other shopping and then got the bus home, ds1 in heaven again
then collapsed in a heap!
have managed 5mins on the wii fit before giving up and watching midsomer murders with wine

missed loads but grrl - congrats on passing test

jewels - hope knee is ok/better?

hi everyone else

teddymummy · 14/08/2008 20:40

hi there- i had three under three for a while- i wish all of you the greatest joy and strength with them all- it does get easier.... well maybe just different!

Jewelsandgems · 15/08/2008 13:12

Hello everyone! I stopped the pil JKS because it made me feel like Ihad PMT the whole time. After I stopped it, I felt alot better (except for pregnancy worries lol)

Grrrrl well done with your DS. Do you think going straight to water is just too much? I mean, you want him to actually go back to sleep, so maybe a bottle of milk (room temp) for 2 weeks, and then water? - and you know for me sugar water worked where normal water was never tolerated.

Just back from pilates and feel very stretched and achy. Knee still hurting, have booked doctors appt.

DD2 up a little bit last night with is very unusual - in the end we gave her ibroprofen and she was fine - more teeth maybe?

elmoandella · 15/08/2008 13:22

not read all. will check it out. just wana say(in the style of AA meeting i stand up and wave looking nervous)
hi,

my name is elmoandella

i have 2 babies aged 2.5yo and 1 yo

i am addicted to buying anything that will make life easier.

TattooedGrrrl · 15/08/2008 13:45

jewels- i think water straight away is too much, because he's dealing with not being in our bed, plus no boob. Last night was hard too- kept him in his own bed until around 4.30am. He woke at 9.30 for 25mins, 12.30 for over an hour, 2.30 for i don't know how long...he woke fewer times than before though, and drank a bit less milk.

I think i'll dilute the milk tonight

Anyway- will catch up properly later. On my lunch in work, and i want a cup of tea!

diddle · 15/08/2008 20:25

elmoandella - welcome, and well done on admitting your love of things making life easier

grrrl - hope tonight goes well for you, i think if you just do it gradually baby will be fine

justkeepswimming · 15/08/2008 20:59

hi elmoandella
with you on the easy life plan!

good luck grrl!

well i dug my heels in the other night and decided that was that for night feeds. have done 2 nights so far and has gone really well. was prepared for proper controlled crying but so far ds2 hasn't cried at all!
have been up and down like a yoyo, sometimes he resettles himself before i even go in, other times i shush him, stroke his head, etc and walk out.
i have been v uncomfortable by morning but hoping body will get the message too

fingers crossed for tonight!

elmoandella · 15/08/2008 21:35

hi hi hi

i'm so excited. there in bed. peace for 27mins till dd needs last feed. then 7 hours till need to take ds for his early morning toilet visit. then 1 hour till everyone up again.

i long for a night of undisturbed sleep. it's been over 3 years!

Cazwa · 15/08/2008 22:55

Hi ElmoandElla

BEen busy here being ill with a cold and family up, and of course being back at work 2 days a week which I LOVE. Except yesterday when I got dumped with a ton of work.

DS has woken the past week in the night crying and up for a good hour or more before goign back to sleep argh, me and DH have been taking turns but we are knackered. I got a lie-in till 9am today though, hurrah.

Going out tomorrow night on the toon, bet I get far too drunk and have a rough sunday.

God how sexy is Stuart from big brother? Havent really watched it but wished I had now, he is phwoarrh!!

TattooedGrrrl · 16/08/2008 07:37

hi elmoandella

i've had crap night. he did take half strength formula though. up loads, i brought him to bed at 3am for a bit because i am so exhausted, then put him back in his bed. I knew he wasn't asleep, but he wasn't crying either. Then DH woke up, saw he was awake and brought him into bed, and he woke me up again He finally got up 5am with him, then brought him back upstairs to me and woke me up, saying DS2 wanted me. I got up, and there was a whole bottle of formula in the fridge (which was what he wanted) that he hadn't even tried giving him I feel like killing someone, i am so tired. And i am working this morning too.

I may kick DH downstairs to sleep tonight so he doesn't interfere...and i don't kill him.

Jewelsandgems · 16/08/2008 08:31

quick post: I know cazwa I have been watching it just for him - he is extremely foxy. I am gutted that he has gone though!

Grrrl sorry to hear about your shit night and you were so nearly there! I mean, I leave my DDs if they are awake but not crying and he would prob have just drifted off to sleep when he was ready! Well good luck for tonight - stay strong girl! ~high five~

TattooedGrrrl · 16/08/2008 09:06

i have no idea who anyone is on Big Brother...been busy watching Twin Peaks. Last episode tonight!

Have had some coffee, sitting at my desk, feeling less homicidal. Suggested maybe DS1 could go to FILs tonight, so we get a toddler-break this afternoon and he isn't disturbed by DS2 on super-weak milk.

High five !!

grrl - i always wait till i know dh will be away or working for a couple of days before i try anything that will involve controlled crying or going cold turkey on anything. as dp always gives in and ruins any progress we were making!!

Morning ladies (P.S do you think that last post was on the wrong thread?!)

Izzy has got a thing right now about rolling onto her front, wedging herself in the corner of her cot and then not being able to roll back again. So, we have to go in and untangle her, roll her back, straighten her grobag and tuck her back in. This happened 3 times last night! Please tell me this is a phase! On the other hand, she did sleep til 0730 this morning instead of her usual 6am(but then I am not surprised with all the bloody waking up!)

DD1 out with DH buying a lawmmower, and then I will wake DD2 and maybe take her for a litle walk.

Mmmm. Nothing exciting to say at all actually sorry for boring post!

elmoandella · 17/08/2008 12:34

i'm doing potty training just now.

i was sure that ds was getting confused by wearing his nappies for naps like everyone was telling me.

so we went cold turkey on the night time nappies.

i have to make myself get up at 5am to take him for a piddle as he's cant go right thru. then he manages to stay dry.

sometimes i'm too lazy though, or dead to the world and he wets the bed.

but it's far less wahing to change the odd bed sheet, rather than constant wet trousers and pants.

but last night was i dry one. he actually shouted on me to take him

so fingers crossed it will continue this way and progress to him taking himself.

we've been potty taining for about 8 months, and cold turkey for just over 1 week.

justkeepswimming · 18/08/2008 09:53

Hi all, fallen behind a bit on here.

Well, have not fed at night for 5 nights now!
and last night ds2 slept 7-6 hooray

have we cracked it????

a la Bob the Builder!

ds1 doing fine, is def in the terrible 2's phase, grr. drives me crazy, is constantly negative about everything:
do you want lunch?
NO
do you want to go out to the beach?
NO
do you want a biscuit?
NO

think it's just an automatic response regardless of the question.

got dh around lots atm thank goodness, so we split up for bedtimes, haven't had to do bedtime on my own for weeks, will be a shock in a few weeks when he gets busy at work again

planning when to start ds2 at nursery, think beginning of nov, so will have some settling in sessions before then.
has anyone else's 2nd (or 3rd or 4th!) started at the same nursery as the elder one(s)? how did it go? think ds1 will be happy that ds2 is there, but only planning on them sharing one day, then ds1 going on his own the 2nd day, what do you think?
Then in Jan, ds1 can start some mornings at the pre-school nearby.
i think.

hope potty training going well, not anywhere near it yet thank god!

jewels - have you tried rolled up towels under the mattress/sheet to stop the rolling?
or teaching her to roll back!

grrl - how goes the night times?

sleep vibes to all for tonight

Kaybeeand2boys · 18/08/2008 13:35

Hi everyone,

sorry not been on again for a bit!

ds2 has slept thru from about 8ish until 6.30/7 for about 3 or 4 nights, please let this continue! Though I would prefer him to settle down at 7 like his brother, but he just flatly refuses to go to sleep!

We are hopefully off on holiday next week, and have got ds1 a toddler blow up bed. Only thing is he is still in a cot at home so not sure how to convince him to sleep in a wee bed........ ANy tips?? He is just a bit big for the travel cot and we only have 1 anyway, and ds2 needs it!

Should really be doing housework, but don't fancy it.......

TattooedGrrrl · 19/08/2008 06:57

hi guys. Nights are going ok- he is used to being in his own cot until about 4.30, and he's in the same room as DS1 too. He's drinking half strength formula for now, but i'm reducing the volume. Still wakes 3 times a night, although last night he twice started to make a noise, then settled himself for a while, which is good.

So knackered i'm glad it's tipping down- plenty of excuse to not go anywhere with the kids today.

Have just got DS1 up (with a very pooey nappy) and swopped him for DS2, who's been up since 4.30am. DS1 now looking chuffed at Teletubbies and eating dry Fruit and Fibre (his request!)

Going food shopping on my own when the kids are in bed later- very excited! I know the route very well from my driving lessons anyway. Drove our car by myself Sunday- scratched it before i even pulled out from outside the house!- We live on a hill, i needed to reverse back to pull out, didn't put the clutch up far enough, and rolled into a car Not helped by the fact that DH was standing watching me go. Other car was fine though. I won't do that again! Was lovely driving alone after that though.

Oh and DS1 was at CMs yesterday, and 3 times he pulled off his trousers and pull ups and went to the toilet by himself! On the toilet! He's really coming along with potty training.

Think that's all my news- DS2 up already!

Day of dvd's, crayons and toys i think.

kaybee- DS1 slept on a blow up bed at FILs Saturday and loved it, he didn't get out until 5.50am. Maybe a familiar blanket will help?
