Kaybee- we took DS1 to California when he was nearly 1yr, which was almost 11hrs (not inc the drive to Heathrow from South Wales) and it was fine. He slept alot of the flight, and when he wasn't sleeping he was being cooed over by passengers who couldn't believe how good he was, or eating choc buttons. Looking back, it seems madness that we went ahead with it, but it was ok. Now that we've got 2 though, it's short haul for a few years- Menorca next year instead.

Just a quick tip for everyone her, if your youngest gets hold a pot of glitter, don't try to remove the glitter from them with a baby wipe, it acts like glue, and dd2 now looks like she is ready to join a glam rock band.

Jewelsandgems · 06/08/2008 12:53

LOVL hazey - will try and remember that.

Izzy woke at 4.3o this morning, had a bit of a shout and then went back to sleep. Feel a bit bit knackered with that sleep interuption though!

Had a lovely albeit rainy day. We went to the sypermarket, put Freya in buggy for way there, then she walked all the way back and we managed to jump in every puddle! And I have a new way of making sure she keeps up with me: I say "chase me!" and she does! Works like a charm (for now)

My friend has gone into labour! Well, actually that may not be true. Her waters broke so she went to hospital but I am guessing she was not in active labour as she was sent home. So, I am not sure whether they will wait to see if it happens naturally, or if they will induce her. She is not due for another 2 weeks I thnk! What with this friend, and my neice - both of them 2 weeks early!! Is it the warm weather?!!

Well I am on my own with the girls all day today. Have been since 0400 this morning and DH will not be back for bedtime. GRRRRRR!

Hope day not too long Jewels. Dd1 is in love with puddles, and can entertain herself for ages with them ( I made a big fake one in the back garden, which she jumped up and down in and dd2 sat in ), I blame too much Peppa Pig. Dh took a video of her splashing in one last week, which is the funniest thing I've ever seen, by the end of 'the splash' her wellies were full to thr brim of water!

Glad I'm not the only late starter with potty training, I can't imagine dd1 ever waking with a dry nappy, it's usually dragging on the ground by morning, so don't think I'll wait for that to happen, before we start.

Went to a party this afternoon, had to get there on the bus, not sure which caused the most excitement for the girls. Had a Pimms, and felt a bit giggly ( can't imagine how I ever used to drink in the daytime ). It was lovely.

Well off to have a bath, pasta, wine, chocolate and bed.

BTW dd2 had to go to bed with glitter-freckles, I seem to have glued them there permanently

simpson · 07/08/2008 10:02

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

DD can't poo she is totally bunged up after refusing to drink milk and only wants solids. Have tried to give her water but she is not having any of it.

DS won't stop pooing in his pants and refuses to poo in the toilet.

Feel like I am going slowly mad!!!!

Jewelsandgems · 07/08/2008 20:40

Thanks Hazey and yesterday was ok although naughty monkey DD2 was up twice in the night (which is ttally unehard of since she was tiny) once she just yelled and went back to sleep, and then she did the same about 5.30 and then I woke her at 0640 - I feel all out of sorts!

Anyway, I too blame peppa pig although I secretly love that programme! I especially love it when they laugh and all lean back on the floor! Oh God! I can almost see my braincells jumping ship!!

Another long day today but my parents camr around to help out and had a lovely day even in the rain. Although I am now a pot of Bourjious bronzing mouse down afrer DD1 smugulled it into her room at lunch naptime and proceeding to apply it liberally to her cheeks, the cheeks of her stuff animals, and all of her pillow. I went in after hearing lots of giggles to find her covered in it, but then she started crying and wailed "sorry mummy!" and it took me ages t explain I was nt cross, but she should not use mummys makeup.

Can;t wait for the weekend am really ready for a break.

xxx

Cazwa · 07/08/2008 20:42

OMG I nearly died of embarrassment today, this sounds made up but I swear it isn't. In-laws have been staying (left tonight) and we were all sitting in the living room, waiting for DD to make her way down the stairs. She was taking a while so I popped my head round the corner to see her sitting on the middle step waving my pink vibrator in her hand!!
Its normally hidden under the bed but she must have spotted it THANK GOD I spotted her before she came in the room!! I grabbed it off her and hid it, she promptly went into hysterics. Thank god also she couldnt express what was wrong, i had to pretend she was hungry for lunch. DH thought it was hysterical when I whispered it to him in the kitchen.

DD is 2 today, we've had a lovely day opening pressies and eating cake, I even managed to make one myself which was pretty decent.

Got to make a cake for saturdays party, shower, wash hair, get bottles ready, get work clothes ready. SO cant be arsed...

Simpson - try giving soup as a solid, I resort to that when neither are drinking much.

Jewelsandgems · 07/08/2008 20:49

ROFL cazwa, especially you trying to disguising your DDs distress with the 'lunch' cover story. We mums sure do have to think on our feet!

TattooedGrrrl · 07/08/2008 21:00

Cazwa- hahahahahahahaha!!!! Bless!

Ladies, raise a toast to my boobies please. They have fed their last, the booby bar is closed. (And currently very sore!) I think at 9mths DS2 has had a good innins, but it's time to have my norks back. I am a little sad that i'll not feel what it's like to feed a schnuffling baby, but looking forward to new bras and no breastpads.

God knows what tonight will be like though, with DS not being offered boob

Good sleeps to all!!!! I'm off to read the Secret Diary of Laura Palmer in bed before i pass out.

simpson · 07/08/2008 21:03

LOL Cazwa - I have nearly spat my glass of wine over lap top!!

Grrl - raising a toast to your boobies here

Kaybeeand2boys · 07/08/2008 21:37

ROFL Cazwa! That has really made my evening

Jewelsandgems · 08/08/2008 12:52

Well done Grrrl for BFing for so long and may your breasts enjoy the break and also wish them well in ther new sexy bras.

Just come back from pilates and feelinf very energetic and full of the joys! It is such a lovely day! But, I am putting the children to bed tonight so I had better enjoy this good feeling while it has not been replaced by a stressed out one.

Today I put Izzy in an outfit for 6-9 months and it is tight! The buttons are straining, the trousers are tight - what a chunky little girl I have! She is still eating anything - she had some french bread this morning and cried at my husband when he told her she could not have any pate!

Freya is being such a lovely girl right now and her speech is just coming on so much I can have a proper conversation with her - it's really nice. I did make her cry yesterday though as she had had my purse out and hidden my cards so I did ask her where they were and she just kept saying 'I don't know!' so I asked her a little more loudly then and she started to cry. Felt really bad. Anyway, just then I lifted a cushion off the floor (I sit on the floor and use a cushion off the sofa...) and there they were. Felt like shit and gave her lots of cuddles, then reminded her not to touch my purse!

Anyway, off to eat some chocolate.

jollyjolly · 08/08/2008 21:14

what a week!!

have been seriously trying to slow down this week which has been good, but to compensate for that my 2 year old DS has decided to be a terror and ignore everything i say, throw himself on the floor, hurt his brother and make me insane!

DS1 - 10 months - is teething and woke up at 3,4 and 5 last night, thought it was playtime despite me being quite and keeping the room dark. he's just learnt to pull himself up to standing, so kept doing that in his cot then falling over. then DS2 woke up at 6.30.

Not good for me, need my sleep and so should they.

Had a bit of a meltdown last night while the boys were in the bath and cried a bit, which i never do in front of them. DS1 said momy cry and asked mommy ok? bless him. i told him that i was sad because he had been a naughty boy and would he try and be good from now on, he said yes, then scooted across the bath and hung his arms over the edge saying mommy cuddle. bless him.

Am i crazy for having a 3rd, someone please tell me that i'm normal and it is hard and will be harder but it'll be worth it in a few years.
have great respect for your grrrl BF for that amount of time. I struggled to BF both of mine, but am hoping to try with the 3rd.

simpson · 08/08/2008 21:34

Jollyjolly - sorry you had a tough day yesterday. Some days are tougher than others i guess. I had a bad one last week and shouted so loud I made both Dcs cry

How old will your oldest be when Lo is born? Playgroup or pre-school could be a life saver.

Hope you get more sleep tonight. Its knackering being pg let alone without enough sleep.

justkeepswimming · 09/08/2008 21:16

really just popping on to say HI and good night

not good at keeping up atm.

tired, yawn...

TattooedGrrrl · 10/08/2008 05:48

Hello All, DS1 has me up after 30mins of trying to get him go back to bed as it too early- he's been awake since 5am. Whingy DH usually gets up wih him, so i'm a bit annoyed- he went to sleep much earlier than me and doesn't get up with DS2 in the night. He's tucked up in bed with DS2 now, while i try and persuade DS1 that we can't go and see horses at 5.45am. He is obsessed with them at the moment.

Resitting my driving test Tuesday [worried emoticon]

And i've lost another 1 lb of baby weight (finally) so now i'm under 10stone (just!)

And i got some high waisted jeans for £10 yesterday

Anyway- more coffee and horse talk...

Jewelsandgems · 11/08/2008 13:01

Grrrl congrats on the weight loss, and the bargain high-waisted jeans! They are great arn't they? And also best of luck for tomorrow!!!

DDs have been good lately, DD1 is now so good at walking with me that I rarely put her in the buggy now and she holds hands when she is asked, stays close to me - I really wouldn't have thought this possibe if I had been asked a few months ago! I do remember one of you guys reassuring me that she would eventually walk responsibly, and you were right!

We had a lovely weekend, went shopping with Freya and DH on saturday whilst my mum looked after Izzy. DH bought a really gorgeous overcoat from Zara Man and I got some really great bargains in the debenhams sale (beautiful cushions reduced from GBP25 each, to GBP6 each!] so if any of you needs any homewares, it is a good sale (And it must be because I hardly ever buy from sales - too busy eyeing up the new stuff!!)

Anyway, weekend was capped off by yesterday evening drinking Tiger beer and watching a Friends DVD. And then had good long sleep, DD2 woke up just after 6. So how long can this happy period last?!!! [I am putting the girls to bed by myself again tonght so prob last til then...]

Talking of periods, mine arrived Saturday and I was SO GLAD. I have never been as happy to see my period in my life. And looking back through my diary when I last did not the dates, it worked out to the day that I should have come on saturday so was not even late - all that worry over nothing. Still yay I AM NOT PREGNANT!!!!

simpson · 11/08/2008 13:32

Well i am on my own now for 4 days as DH is cycling to Holland and then we are going in the car to join him on Friday for 2 weeks.

DD has been very constipated for 4 days but is now over the worst helped by prunes and fruit!!

DS is going to stay with my mum tomorrow overnight, it will be nice to spend time with DD by herself. Have got to go into down though snd get final bits for holiday.

High waisted jeans are a necessity in this house

Grrrl - Good luck tomorrow.

Jewels - Phew glad you are not pg!!!

TattooedGrrrl · 12/08/2008 14:07

Jewelsandgems · 12/08/2008 18:23

just off to yoga but could not resist
CONGRATULATIONS GRRRRL!

loucee · 12/08/2008 18:34

Hi everyone

Sorry for long absence, I don't have much chance to post at the moment but haven't gone AWOL

congratulations GRRRRL

hazeyjane · 12/08/2008 20:00

congratulations grrrl - thats fantastic!

hopefully i should have my test soon(ish) - i've just passed my theory, so my driving instructor is hoing to put in for a test - eek.

am feeling crap at the moment, because i've got a throat infection or something tonsilly, dh has been looking after the girls all day, but went to watch football at 6, so had bedtime on my own, fortunately both girls were really sleepy, so dd2 fell asleep in my arms whilst watching 'bear in the big blue house' (bedtime favourite), meaning i could cuddle dd1 in her bed (the only way she goes to sleep).

well done for the weight loss grrrl, i was over the moon to have to take back some trousers i bought the other day (slouchy green linen combats - high waist!) because they were too big. i have lost weight since having dd2, but my stomach looks horrendous, i truly know the meaning of muffin top!

jewels - phew!

TattooedGrrrl · 13/08/2008 08:31

sorry you feel ill hazey- hope you feel better soon, and good luck with your test

Having an awful time with DS2's sleep. I've stopped breastfeeding in the day with success, and the idea was to stop at night too, but when he was grumping i was letting him latch on for 5mins comfort so he'd go to sleep- but now he wants to latch on all night, which means he keeps me awake and i have to lie at a silly angle. It's time to get tough i think- water on offer only tonight. He's too old to be feeding this much at night, and i can't keep doing this.

So, tonight will be dreadful i know, but i'll prob get just as much sleep, and i have work tomorrow, so at least i'll get a break!

OP posts:
simpson · 13/08/2008 10:34

Hazeyjane - sorry to hear you feel so rough. Throat infection things are horrid I am prone to them too.

Grrrl - Good luck with the no bfing tonight.

My mum has just dropped DS off after having him overnight. Within minutes of being in the house he has done a massive poo in pants (3 days worth) just as DD is filling her nappy for the 2nd time of the day. Welcome to the life as a mum of 2 methinks
