I'll 2nd the Vasogen, bepathan is also quite good, and if it gets really bad, metanium will clear virtually anything!

bepanthen all the way its fab OR the MIL says get egg white whisk it up and put it on witha bit of cotton wool works a treat put it on last nappy at nitght almost gone in the morning!!!!

Laasars paste, which you can get from your doctors is very good for clearing nappy rash as it is very thick and is a great barrier. DD had an awful rash at one time with teeth. I used the paste till rash cleared up then I found that sudocreme wasn't a very effective barrier so I started to use Nivea baby soothing ointment. Its great. Its thick and is brill barrier. and its cheap and you only need a tiny bit.

Another vote for Timodene. You have to keep it in the fridge. Its antibiotic, antifungal and hydrocortisione, to attack the rash from all angles. Only available from the doctor though

A liberal application of vaseline or zinc and castor oil cream to the bottom at each nappy change will prevent any nappy rash.
