How old is the child that drew this picture?

Just that really. Just wondering how old you think the child is that drew this picture? They did it completely by themselves.

Around 5. Could be a bit younger could be a bit older.

Looks like my just 4 year old nephews work but he’s a little Picasso, maybe 5/6? Whatever age it’s really good and I like it a lot!

It's hard to say because children, like adults are either artistically gifted or they're not. If a 4 year old drew this, it doesn't necessarily mean they are miles ahead of their peers, just that they are creative and artistic.

Judging by the writing at the top and letter formation I’m going with reception aged, so 5.

If judging purely on the picture I’d say anywhere between 4-6. My just turned 5 year old draws better but I also know some 6 year olds who would draw like that.

I've taught loads of 4-5 year olds who were artistic and would have been able to produce a picture like that without a second thought. I've also taught a handful of able 3 year olds who could draw this well.

It's a nice picture but I never really get the need for threads like this.

Really? I'd be absolutely astounded if a three year old was able to draw a picture like this!

Yes really. I suspect it's probably not a 3 year old because of the writing but if a child enjoys drawing it's genuinely not unusual. In the same way some 3 year olds can ride a bike whilst others have never even sat on a bike etc.

I’d say 5 because of the stage of the cursive joins in the handwriting. It’s a very nice picture though and better than my 6 year old would do now😊

PS to the person who said it is about talent/creativity - it’s really not. It’s about practice. My dd was appalling at art at primary and is now heading for a 9 at gcse fine art - you can learn to draw, it is a skill. My ds doesn’t do much drawing hence he’s crap at it.

Not true. It’s practice. I used to believe this but now I’ve spent a few months drawing everyday I’ve definitely improved! It’s a skill to be learned and I’m teaching DC this. He’s improved loads too! Just try it!

In fact, some artists find it insulting to be called talented because it ignores the years of hard work gone into it.

Why do you ask?
Does it matter as long as the child enjoys drawing.
If I had to guess I'd say 5 because of the writing but in reality they could be any age from 3 to 10 or older
Like adults there is a huge difference between different children's drawings

I think anywhere from 3-9 wouldn’t be unusual. Younger than 3 it’s impressive to be able to hold the pen and concentrate for that long. And I definitely know one or two 9 year olds who don’t like concentrating on one task and just scribble off something to get it done.
