Not had a night to myself in a decade

I haven’t had a single night to myself in a decade, how I haven’t cracked up I don’t know 😂 are there any other parents who haven’t had a night without their kids in a decade? Feels like most parents get regular breaks grandparents/ exes etc how do you cope?

Yeah exactly I have never had any help from family sadly not all families want to help out

I didn't . And tbh it didn't really occur to me to mind. As a single parent I got to be with my dc nearly all the time, my freedom came when the youngest could be left.

Never had a night off isn't that what we sign up for?

well clearly not as most people have family who help out or a partner 🤣

I wish I shared your view but I am exhausted so a night off occasionally would be nice like most single mums that get eow to themselves

My son is almost 6. I've had a few hours out, every couple of months.

But like an actual overnight? Nope.

Well actually there was the 3 nights in hospital when I had flu and double pneumonia when he was 3 to be fair...

I'm not sure most people do have others I guess some are lucky to have parents and in-laws...mine all died in a two year gap when my eldest was 4. But not everyone had family wishing to do overnight anyway.....but it's a grass is greener thing I guess. You don't assume others will take your kids because they are yours. Your not the only single parent.....there are lots.

And that’s why I made this post to hear from others in this situation, everyone I know irl does have parents that have their kids overnight or their children go to their dads eow it can be hard to feel like you are not the only one sometimes!

I have had one night away in 15 years and that was about 10 years ago lol only other time i have spent a night away from my kids is when ive been in labour haha xx
