What’s the most amazing thing your children have that you didn’t?

A bit of a lighthearted one, but here you are:

What is the most amazing thing that your children have (or have access to) that you didn’t?

For me it is definitely YouTube. The entire concept of wondering how your refrigerator works and 10 seconds later watching a complete diagram unfold before you, or an in-depth factory tour… that’s insane when I think of how in my school years we just hoped maybe there was a dusty old VHS with a tour of a crayon factory on it. I don’t love this world of the internet that our children are growing up in, but from art lessons to fascinating science experiments YouTube > catalogues of pricey VHS tapes.

The ability to eat on the sofa and leave toys out if they’re in the middle of a game. My mum was very strict about everything being clean and tidy, I spent my 20s being exceptionally messy in rebellion xD

Constant hot water on tap, I'm still in awe that we have this.

Airtight windows

Unlimited opportunities for extra curricular activities and holiday clubs. Much more choice around these days.

A shower.

We only had a bath in my childhood home and it's only since having a shower in my own home that I've realised just how much quicker and easier it is!!

We have a bath too but I'd much rather a shower and no bath than a bath and no shower!!!

Me as a parent!

I know you said light-hearted but on a serious note it's a good thread, this is definitely a good topic to think about to heal and be a conscientious parent.

The internet
Mobile phones
Central heating

All of that we didn't have central heating until I was 11-12, not sure how I survived as I live in an A rated house now and I'm still cold 😂

No I think we're one of those families that's gone down!

I had a comfortable childhood. 2 working parents, suburban semi, good schools. 2 cars, holiday house, horse riding etc.

My DCs dont get nagged. They eat out more but don't go to the fancy places I went.

They have more stuff.
