Boy mums- keeps pulling at penis

Liverpoollass2 · 18/02/2024 12:08

My 4 year old keeps pulling at his penis area. He doesn't nee the toilet and and doesn't have a UTI. When i ask him why he is doing it he says his penis keeps sticking to the skin on his upper leg? We've tried putting talc on him and recently tried new style of pants but he keeps doing it. Im getting so frustrated at him i ended up shouting at him in his face how disgusting it was and he needed to stop. Anyone have their son do this? What helped?

Thanks for the feedback, im not a troll.
Ive had a calmer chat with him about what's appropriate and whats more for when you are in private. Ive obviously apologised for shouting and explained that was wrong- i was very stressed hence looking for some support from an internet site obviously wont do that again!

At 4 it's just another body part to him. Boys fiddle with their bits for comfort, habit, because it's uncomfortable, lots of reasons...but none of them dirty or sexual ffs.

My son did it for years. I remember a snooty school mum commenting on it to me. I laughed and said it's his favourite toy.

You need to stop using words like disgusting. You are creating feelings of shame that are totally disproportionate.

What good would shouting at him do other than give him lasting trauma surrounding his association to his privates? My lord?!

His four what?

He's 4 years old. He's still small and the poor boy explained to his mum what was wrong. I don't really know why OP is getting upset and stressed to this level. He isn't 14. FFS has she never seen plenty of men doing it in public.

He's. He's. He's. (It is short for HE IS.) His does not mean he is.

Poor little boy. My almost 4 year old does it and we just ask him not to. We don't scream at him. Can't say I've ever shouted in his face though.

Every boy on the planet plays with their penis as a young boy

I mean who wouldn't

They have to hold it to pee with it regardless

OP you clearly have major sexual hang ups if you're seriously screaming at a 4 year old boy and telling him he's disgusting

I fucking hope you're a Troll because you are vile

But he isn't doing anything wrong

Nothing wrong at all

His behaviour is completely normal

You are just a weirdo with sexual hang ups and simply a dreadful unkind unhinged human being

People who point out other people's grammar strike me as ignorant it's more annoying than the actual grammar error. Such a life. Maybe English isn't their first language or maybe its just a general typing error 🙄

Pulling at his penis repeatedly when in public/Infront of others is not appropriate though?

Its nothing sexual, weird you think there's something sexual about it at 4 years old? Id say the same to a girl if she was grabbing her vagina repeatedly when out and about. You seem unhinged in your response to be honest.
Like others have said i will be telling my child not to grab/pull at his penis

Hes not "playing" his grabbing and pulling at it in public. I didn't call him disgusting, i said pulling at your penis repeatedly in public is disgusting.
Why are you turning this into something sexual- he is a 4 year old readjusting his penis repeatedly. I worry why you think this is a sexual thing....very strange

It's just a comfort thing op, most don't even realise they're doing it.

I used to work in a care home for adults with LDs and they all cupped their genitals when they were relaxed - both male and female. We'd probably all do it if it wasn't socially unacceptable.

Has a dr checked his penis? I'm wondering if he might have a foreskin issue that's irritating him?

User373433 · 21/02/2024 01:57

The reason small boys tug on their penis from as soon as they discover it as babies, is because it loosens their foreskin. I was glad I knew this and didn't stop my son from doing it, even though it made me cringe when he'd grab it and stretch it out at every nappy change/bath. Children that have tight foreskin issues at primary age have often been prevented from doing this. With my son I've noticed he's had phases of it, and just as I start to become concerned it's getting out of hand it stops, and the phases come less often! If he is doing it a lot, it may be a tight foreskin issues. Let him get it out of his system if possible. Suggest he do it in the bath/in private if is doing it in front of others. I know you've already tried another type, but there are loads of different styles of underwear you could try too.

Thank you,
Yes the GP has taken a look previously but ill be mindful of this. I am going to try some looser boxers, he says his penis is "sticking to his skin"
