Encourage baby to self-settle

My 10-week-old needs to be fed or rocked to sleep & cannot self settle. Everytime I try to put him down drowsy & leave the room he cries so I need to go back in. How do I encourage self-settling?

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Do not worry about a rutine! They sleep when they are tired and eat when they are hungry. Forcing a rutine at this age (or even later) is cruel, in my opinion.

Try bouncy chair. Stay next to your baby, talk, and touch - my daughter eventually learned to fall asleep in there without me needing to hold her.

I also always advise you to have a separate cot for daytime naps and for the night time. I only used the next to me cot for nightsleep, and eventually, my baby girl learned that it was for nightime; settled nicely and slept through. It might have been just luck, but I think it really helped her.
