Hello

my LO has come out in pimple looking spots all over her private parts. It started last night and this evening seems so much worse. Anyone have any idea what they could be caused by? I change her nappy every 2 hours and always change her as soon as she soils. Baths every night also.

They look like pimples but are spreading everywhere? I quickly counted 25 on her bum alone while she was lay in the bath earlier.

she has also woke up with a cough and runny nose this morning could that be related?

should I contact the doctor about this?

included a rubbish zoomed in photo of a few of the spots but they are all over her bum and other area.

Chicken pox

mummyh2016 · 23/05/2022 21:31

Definitely chicken pox sorry!

TheLovleyChebbyMcGee · 23/05/2022 21:32

Yep I bet chicken pox too, keep an eye on them and see what happens

snowflake29 · 23/05/2022 21:33

Yep looks like chicken pox to me!

Hugasauras · 23/05/2022 21:33

Yep most likely the pox. The other possibility is hand, foot and mouth, which can often appear in genital area too, but the sheer number of those and the spreading so fast makes me think chicken pox is more likely.

Saj89 · 23/05/2022 21:34

@gamerchick @OhWhatFuckeryIsThisNow @calmlakes @listsandbudgets Thanks for quick replies. They are small like pimples though and only in her nappy area not anywhere else on her body. Could this happen and not spread elsewhere?

dementedpixie · 23/05/2022 21:34

Could be the start of hand foot and mouth too as it can also appear in the nappy area

gamerchick · 23/05/2022 21:36

They will.

BreadmanAndCake · 23/05/2022 21:36

My youngest has had HFM twice and both times it has began on his genitals and bottom and spread out to hands and feet from there. It really sucks so fingers crossed your little one only has a mild illness.

BreadmanAndCake · 23/05/2022 21:37

My eldest caught it from him and it only appeared (very badly) in his mouth so it really varies.

Saj89 · 23/05/2022 21:37

@BreadmanAndCake Oh no bless him twice !? Do they get a ‘cold’ with it too? Ok I will keep a close eye on her

Unless some pimples have blistered by now I would think H,F&M much more likely. DS had it horrendously over his bottom and genitals once. It looked like a terrifying picture in a medical journal. I took him to the GP who said H,F&M. Apparently it’s often worse in the nappy area if they suffer from eczema or nappy rash.

Yeah, the first inkling we had that he was coming down with something was that he was super irritable, a fever then appeared a couple of hours before the spots did. He was also a little snotty.

eddiemairswife · 23/05/2022 21:40

If they turn into little blisters it is probably chicken pox.

Gunpowder · 23/05/2022 21:40

They can have HF&M multiple times and there are definitely some strains that cause more severe symptoms. I (and even a pharmacist) have mistaken it for chicken pox before, but 4 kids on I think when they actually have chicken pox it’s unmistakeable.

Hugasauras · 23/05/2022 21:41

HFM can be rotten. DD only had a few blisters but I caught it from her and my entire mouth and tongue were covered in ulcers. It's one of the most painful things I've ever had! I couldn't eat or even talk properly. Bloody medieval childhood diseases.

Saj89 · 23/05/2022 21:49

Here’s a clearer photo I have just taken. Oh dear I hope it isn’t that !! That sounds terrible

It's what HFM was like for my daughter. She just had these spots mild cold symptoms and slight skin peeling on her toes and fingers. Nothing dramatic.

It does look like it. Hopefully it's mild, the first time my eldest had it he barely even noticed it.

Partytoddle1777 · 25/05/2022 23:07

How’s your baby was it pox ?

LegArmpits · 25/05/2022 23:20

I reckon that's HFM

ofwarren · 25/05/2022 23:30

My son had a similar rash that was just in the nappy area. He got it swabbed at the hospital as he has problems with his immune system and it was a staphylococcus aurius infection. It cleared up quickly with fucidin antibiotic cream.
