Christmas with a newborn?

Hi, my first baby is due 5th November and we're stuck on what would be easiest for Christmas. Will see in laws a week before which should be straightforward but my parents live 2 hours away.
They're really flexible and happy to either come to us and do everything for us, or have us to them and do everything at their place! Wondering what would be easiest - having them at our house and feeling I still need to tidy and clean, or doing the two hour drive with a newborn??

@cookiecreampie

I'd personally have it just you, your DH and baby.
This.

We decided to have our first Christmas with our baby last year just us, definitely wasn’t as idyllic as we had anticipated. We will be going to my parents house this year.

Our C-Section (first baby) is currently (provisionally!) pencilled in for 5th November, and we’ve already decided we’ll be staying at home.
We were home last year too, which has probably helped with setting up the precedent so to speak, but we just both feel we’d rather be where we’re most comfortable, with everything to hand for baby. There’s some complicated family dynamics which I cannot be arsed with at the best of times at play tho, so that probably sways it slightly.
We’re completely undecided as to who or even if we will invite to ours on the day and have made it known to all involved that it’ll be decided after baby is here.

I had dd mid December and we did our own thing. If I'd been a bit earlier I would have had family come to me. Much easier and I found everyone so willing to help with everything when they were there.

DS has a September birthday. We were press ganged into going away to DM’s and then the PiL’s. OMG, do not underestimate the amount of stuff you’ll want to take for a few days away with a baby.,I know you can just take a couple of sleepsuits, a pair of boobs and a sling, but there is a lot more people do take.
