Is my toddler son being too prankster for his age. Anyone faced this.

My 13 yr old son who has begun to wobbly walk is also behaving in ways that may harm him seriously. Like opening and closing sliding window panels, opening closing drawers, it might lead to serious injuries if his hand gets stuck. Right now it seems he has a natural fear of fluffy cotton. So we keep it near drawer handles to keep him away. Maybe he thinks its ghost . Sorry if I sound crazy but that's how it has become
And another serious issue is when excited he suddenly jerks his upper body backwards and falls flat back. Usually not an issue if he's on matress but he just did it near a well and ended up hitting his wall on head. Fortunately nothing happened.

I bet he doesn’t do it again in a hurry. This is how children learn Op. they do things until they find a reason not to. Hurting yourself is a reason not to and he won’t understand this until he actually feels it. Supervise him at all time stop make sure he isn’t going to lose his fingers but let him explore.

How high are these windows? Make sure he can't climb up and fall out.

There are loads of cupboard/drawer/window/fridge locks on the market. Time to buy some.

There's no reason you can't put child locks in those cabinets and drawers they're fairly standard, there are lots of different types of lock.

You can get childproof locks for cupboards, drawers , sliding doors etc.

I never baby proofed my home with door locks and the like for my 2 DSs (now 3.5 and 18mo). It was definitely more hard work to watch them like a hawk and explain about nit doing stuff. It feels useless at the beginning but they both quickly learnt. We don't have stairs though so of course I would have taken that precaution with a stair gate. Now I'm so glad we didn't baby proof and made them world proof as they're really careful where they need to be.

You're 13mo sounds normal. Babies that young are still learning how to safely use thier bodies. A few bumps will help them learn.

Do you have space to rearrange your cupboards so that the dangerous stuff is out of reach?

In the grand scheme of things it doesn't matter if they get the pans and chopping boards out 3 times a day and they do need to learn how to open and close drawers and cupboards safely
