My 13 yr old son who has begun to wobbly walk is also behaving in ways that may harm him seriously. Like opening and closing sliding window panels, opening closing drawers, it might lead to serious injuries if his hand gets stuck. Right now it seems he has a natural fear of fluffy cotton. So we keep it near drawer handles to keep him away. Maybe he thinks its ghost . Sorry if I sound crazy but that's how it has become
And another serious issue is when excited he suddenly jerks his upper body backwards and falls flat back. Usually not an issue if he's on matress but he just did it near a well and ended up hitting his wall on head. Fortunately nothing happened.

You need these
But also keep dangerous stuff like bleach out of reach. Either in a high up cupboard or even in the car. Please tell me the doors to our side aren’t openable by him 🤦🏻‍♀️

Seriously baby proof your house, not with cotton wool.

You can get magnetic locks so it just goes inside the cupboard and outside.
Move dangerous stuff higher.
My LO loves getting the pans and utensils out to make a racket 😂

What you are describing isn't a 'serious issue'. It has been faced by every parent of every toddler the world over.

We didn't put locks on our cupboards just a stair gate across the kitchen door and if he was in the kitchen with us he would be in his high chair with toys to entertain him. He also did the throwing himself back thing until he realised it hurt so stopped doing it. All normal toddler stuff.

I have found some children need the house more 'toddler proofed' than others. We had to get door hinge protectors for ds3 after a serious accident.

Your son’s behaviour sounds very normal to me. At that age they have no concept of danger and are still getting used to how their body works. Their world is expanding and they are keen to explore it. As pp have said, please get some locks for the cupboards to keep your son safe. Also be prepared for him to start exploring the oven and fridge at some point. If you live in a house you will also need to fit a stairgate.

I had stairgates and locks. My boy was strong and ripped the locks from the cupboards. His sister climbed the stairgates. I gave up, moved anything dangerous to adult hight and didnt piss in peace for 5 years.

I fondly remember DS's 2 year check up, in which he got a chair and tried to undo the front door chain while the HV asked if he attempts problem solving...

Kids this age are all houdini and also determined to smash their own skulls. Your DS is normal, but you need to baby proof as much as you can and fast. Those door/drawers can definitely have locks (so long as your child is not the hulk like mine). Get window locks fast if he's playing with them.

If you know you need to baby proof your home with a walking toddler, then why don’t you? That’s why people are saying this is a ridiculous thread. There probably isn’t a cabinet or cupboard around that can’t be baby proofed with a proper product, there’s dozens of them on the market. Amazon will have some out to you by tomorrow. Baffled why you would make a bizarre post about this instead of actually researching options that are better than cotton wool.

My DD was a bit like this, I think it's normal tbh. We got magnetic cupboard locks and table corner covers from amazon.
