When your kids don't resemble you

DS doesn't look a thing like me in any way. We are complete opposites in every possible way and tbh this makes me quite sad as I had envisioned having a little boy version of me running around. Sometimes when I look at him this sadness comes back and I feel a little like I'm looking at a stranger. It's not that I love him less or anything, he is my world.

The comments happen more and more nowadays about how he looks nothing like me. This adds salt to the wound that I've been trying to ignore.

Anyone else in a similar situation? How do you feel and how do you deal with these feelings? Do you have other kids who look like you?

I have two LOs, DS is 4 years old and DD is 4 months. It wasn't until DD was born that I realised how much more of my features (and personality) DS has of mine compared to what I had originally thought. In terms of features it is a bit harder to spot since both DH and I have black hair and brown eyes, only difference being that I am slightly darker skinned. But personality wise it's very clear to see that DD already has her dad's (unnecessarily) loud personality, and DS is quieter like me. But then it's the same for me - spitting image of my dad but personality like my mum (missed out on looking like a model since my mum was ridiculously gorgeous from the photos I've seen of her in her youth 😩).
