What’s the worst thing your baby has licked/eaten?

Currently my 10 month old is obsessed with trying to crawl to her stroller so she can lick the wheels. She’s only managed it once but that’s one too many times in my opinion! Also (god knows how dirty) carpets in public places, she’s mad for them.

Please make me feel better/like I’m not the only one - what gross stuff does/did your baby lick?

Not mine, but a friend’s, surprisingly speedy, crawling baby once licked a washed up jellyfish on the beach Confused. That could have turned out badly but luckily all was fine apart from the adults all feeling a bit 🤢

My parents were minding the baby at their house.
My mum had recently lost one of her dentures.
Parents notice baby is chewing something... yes it's mums denture!

Babies and toddlers are so weird!

My DS (21 months) is always trying to chew the soles of his shoes Confused

When my dd was little I saw her wash her dummy in the cat's water bowl before putting it back in her mouth. Looked like she had done it before 🤢

The catGrin

Seeleyboo · 22/09/2019 11:25

My son was 2 and pooped in the bath. I saw him eating it like a Mars bar. I called the Dr but was told so long as it's his poop he will be ok. Blush

I've never forgotten the day I found my toddler with a snail in his mouth. Urgh.

pastabest · 22/09/2019 11:28

I have two toddlers.

They think it's funny to lick each other's snotty noses.

Toddlers are grim.

AwdBovril · 22/09/2019 11:29

I know a toddler who licked the wall of a public toilet, apparently on more than one occasion. I suppose at least it wasn't the floor...

cinnamonbun · 22/09/2019 11:35

My toddler licks me all the time. She's licked/bitten a dishwasher tablet ( I stupidly left it within reach for 5 seconds , she's quick) she licks the floors, the windows. She's taken a sneaky drink from the water butt and got sodding worms. Both my toddler and my SIX YEAR OLD licked the cat yesterday....🙄

Reminds me of this clip 🤣🤣🤣

These are funny and terrible at the same time. I was quite hoping she’ll grow out of out by the times she’s six though Shock

I was digging in the garden with DD when she was a toddler. I turned over a worm with my spade, so decided to be educational and held it out to her, explaining what it was, how it lived etc. She took it from my hand, bit it in half and swallowed!

Cornishmum00 · 22/09/2019 11:52

My ds licked the outside of the window and ate a snail when he was a toddler

littlecabbage · 22/09/2019 11:55

My dog shat on the rug under the dining room table (very unusual) and the first thing I noticed was my baby eating it. I win Grin

LittleAndOften · 22/09/2019 11:57

Pulling his poo out of his own nappy and eating it was a low moment. Sad

PiratePetespajamas · 22/09/2019 11:58

My friend’s baby ate a cigarette butt in the playground Confused

DappledThings · 22/09/2019 12:15

The poles on buses. He never licked anything else gross but put him on a bus and he'd be straining at the buggy straps to get to the pole to give it a good lick.

TerribleCustomerCervix · 22/09/2019 12:17

DD did this at 21 months. Sitting in her high chair, I saw her with dirty hands. DH was like “Oooh that’s just Nutella from earlier.”.

It was not Nutella.

Half a dead cockroach. Got the other half out of her mouth. It was 19 years ago and since we’ve reminded her about it often enough she’s still horrified at my shoddy parenting.

Bellsofstclements · 22/09/2019 12:24

My DS loved licking buggy wheels too. It was quite a challenge at a class we went to where all the buggies were in the same room as the activities!

Currently enjoys licking a window when he gets chance.

Ohnoherewego62 · 22/09/2019 12:25

Cat food

mondler · 22/09/2019 12:32

My DS is 9 months and it's a constant battle to stop everything going into his mouth! His favourites are sucking the table edge in any restaurant/cafe, the chain on the park swing, baby wipes (used or not!), shoelaces and picking and eating grass. Confused
