What’s the worst thing your baby has licked/eaten?

Currently my 10 month old is obsessed with trying to crawl to her stroller so she can lick the wheels. She’s only managed it once but that’s one too many times in my opinion! Also (god knows how dirty) carpets in public places, she’s mad for them.

Please make me feel better/like I’m not the only one - what gross stuff does/did your baby lick?

Never had this problem with DS but DD 17 months will put anything and everything in her mouth. She really likes the dogs food so that's a daily battle as he's a grazer but the worst is probably trying to lick a stain off the carpet at soft play Confused

My niece (3) got a mouthful of her great great uncle’s ashes whilst they were being scattered. Her sister (2) promptly picked up the urn lid to have a try as well.

MrsMaow · 22/09/2019 12:39

🤢 Ashes might even beat dogshit and cigarette butts. I can’t decide.

Ds 6months shouts and babbles like a man possessed until ddog jumps up to the side of his chair for a licking match.. he thinks its hilarious. Hopefully he doesnt upgrade to poo eating though Envy.. I’ll need a return slip for him lol Grin

Spiders. The big huntsman indoor ones. Amazed she can catch them.

GoBackToPartyCity · 22/09/2019 15:01

Dog poo. He found a little dried nugget in the garden and popped it in his mouth. Thankfully I managed to scoop it out before he chewed it 🤢

DD has a thing about licking and sucking on the bar of the trolley in the supermarket. We spend the entire shopping trip trying to prise her mouth off it Envy

PivotPivotPivottt · 22/09/2019 15:02

Her own shit. Both of them.

A friend of my dad used to bring his toddler around and she used to eat the cat food. I saw a mum on the bus cooing over her small child until she realised the child had a snail in her mouth.

Kids are weird.

mawbroon · 22/09/2019 15:04

A large chunk of his brother's vomit which rolled out of the bed sheet I was trying to clean up.
Boak

PivotPivotPivottt · 22/09/2019 15:04

And cat food. Unfortunately not by 2 year old but my 7 year old.

HarrietSchulenberg · 22/09/2019 15:05

My toddler once cleaned his teeth with the toilet brush. He's now made it to 18 but I no longer have a toilet brush.

PivotPivotPivottt · 22/09/2019 15:05

mawbroon 🤢🤢🤢🤢 you win, I'm off 🤮

SingingSands · 22/09/2019 15:10

The fake coals from the "living flame" gas fire we had in the lounge at the time (obviously not when it was on!).

As I recall they both ate one. Confused

Mumof3bb1 · 25/07/2024 06:59

@MrsMaow hi how’s your little one now? Did it stop?

Ismo456 · 25/07/2024 07:56

The hand rails of escalators 😫

MrsMaow · 25/07/2024 09:34

@Mumof3bb1

hi there

she is fine now! She did grow out of it, so long ago that I have no idea when, I totally forgot she’d ever done that until I saw your message.

The worst things for my DS so far are:

  • chewing the rubbery window edges on the bus
  • flakes of ancient paint from my in laws' flat in Egypt

Narrowly stopped him from eating a piece of undigested corn from a poopy nappy.
