When did you start putting your baby in outfits?

As in not wearing sleepsuits all day.

I have some lovely 3-6 month outfits, little trousers and tops. Tights and dresses etc. but I still don’t think she seems that comfortable in it. I sometimes put them on for when we go to babygroups and then change her when we get home.

We’re starting to think about buying 6-9 month clothes and so far I have only bought sleepsuits as I don’t want to waste money on lovely clothes she probably won’t wear. She has been quite a colicky baby but I think we are starting to see an improvement now.

Just wondering what everyone else did? Smile

You do what suits you and your baby and don't worry about anyone else.

Personally I was using "outfits" (but only soft comfy ones) right from 5 days old when we left the hospital. I was suffering from pnd and may not have been entirely rational but I felt it was more treating him like a "real person" to get him properly dressed during the day time. Babygrows for between 7pm and 7am only.

On the other hand my friend with a baby the same age kept hers in baby grows for the entire first 12 months.

Each to their own and no judging.

Wow lots of responses thank you.

Thanks for posting links for ideas too. I’ve bought some soft dungarees and little joggers with long sleeves vests. My grandma knits so I have lots of cardigans. I have also got some cute fleece type babygrows for when it gets colder. Matalan and Asda actually have some lovely stuff, which I don’t feel too guilty about buying. Grin

I’ve noticed in groups most babies are dressed up. Seen quite a few in jeans! They seem comfy enough though. I think we might finally be over the blur of colic now so I think I will enjoy dressing her up a bit more now I can actually leave the house!

DC1 I put her in outfits from maybe 1-2mo old when I took her out. DC2, I was too busy to worry about outfits and she was in babygro until she walks. I just buy colourful babygros instead of white ones. I got fleecy one for winter and then cotton ones for spring (she was a autumn baby). Don’t have time to change outfits on babies to go out!!

I'm not keen on jeans at all for babies, or shirts. One of my friends said jeans were good for crawling, but the jersey trousers and little joggers we get from h and m are just fine. Baby looks beautiful, they have lovely patterns and bright colours too which we love and he's so comfy.

I love shopping for him, got no decent clothes for myself now as always online shopping for him.

Baby is nearly 5 months and has been wearing outfits most days for the last 2 months or so. Prior to that he was mostly just in a nappy or just a vest as it was so hot. If I'm honest I prefer him in babygros as they are comfy but people bought him clothes and also I feared being thought lazy when out and about. But reading this thread I'm thinking I should just put him in daytime babygros if I want! It's the socks that drive me crazy the most.
